Almost in the twenties.... ;)

Connor's POV

"We just saved his life kid."

A part of my hope clicked off. Troye still wasn't mine.

"Troye c'mon we should go now. You interrupted enough." Troye stared blankly at the operating table, his mouth parted in concentration. Tears still glistened on his cheeks, and more formed, but they seemed to be of joy.

"As I recall young man you interrupted as well. Don't go tattling on your friend here." The female surgeon on my right joked. I laughed awkwardly, shrugging my shoulders.

"Yeah I guess you're right." The lady laughed along with me.

"The name's Lauren." She held out her hand for me to shake, but her glove was covered in (Tyler's) blood. "Ah yikes sorry." She pulled off the glove, taking my hand in hers. I shook it gently, smiling at her. Sadly, I could only see her eyes, which were a deep brown, because the rest of her face was covered by the surgeon uniform and mask.

"Connor." I responded with a friendly tone. Her eyes scrunched up, so I guessed she was smiling. I wonder what her smile looks like. I internally scrunched my eyebrows. Wait I'm gay why do I care? Lauren shook her hand in front of my face, signaling my attention.

"Hey you okay? You just blanked out for a minute there." I shrugged and sighed, glancing at Troye who was speaking to the other surgeon. "Relationship struggles?" She placed a hand on my shoulder, her eyes sincere full of ...support... no. Jealousy? Not quite. Guilt? Now that might be the correct term.

"Uh yeah something like that." She nodded and released her hand from its grasp, pulling the other glove off. Little does she know I was thinking of her over my boyfriend.

"Well, I'm sorry... uhm... Connor right?" I shook my head. "Relationships suck ass."

"Amen to that." An improvised cough sounded in the room.

"Oh I think Dr. Deyes wants your attention." She motioned her head behind me, where a man with brown eyes and a tall stature look stood.

"Connor?" Troye tapped my shoulder as if on cue, his face glowing with happiness. "The doctor said we have to leave now." His eyes drifted to Lauren beside me, and he smiled at her. "Sorry if I interrupted." She smiled and shook her head, tossing the dirty gloves into the disposal bin. Dr. Deyes came up behind Troye and smiled, his mask pulled down.

"Hi guys it's Alfie!" I scrunched my eyebrows while Lauren broke into hysterical laughing beside me. Troye looked the same amount of confused that I did. He coughed. "I mean, Hi guys my name is Alfie, or Dr. Deyes." I shook his hand, while Troye mirrored me. After a short bit of small talk and phone number exchanging, the male surgeon, Dr. Deyes ushered us out of the room, closing and locking the door behind us, and we were left in the hallway.

Tyler's mom ran straight into us, embracing the two boys in a hug. I cleared my throat, clearly uncomfortable with the sudden contact. After about a minute, she loosened her grip and I managed to wiggle out of the hold while Troye engaged into the hug.

"I'm so happy Troye you have no idea." Jackie smiled, happiness pouring out of her voice. Troye nuzzled his face into her neck, rubbing circles in her back.

"I think I do have an idea." He giggled while I smiled at his attempt at small humor. Jackie pulled away and stroked Troye's cheek, smiling at him the whole time. I stood out of the conversation they had between each other, and waited until they finished with various embraces and kisses.

"Bye Jackie!" Troye called, catching up to my slow walking pace and linking our arms. "Hey Connor."

"Hi Troye." I grinned confused with his awkward greeting.

"Don't you think it's weird how they didn't kick us out of the surgery room immediately?" Troye popped a question, running a hand through his dried hair.

"Yeah I thought about that too. Very odd." I added. Troye hummed in response, hopping in the elevator alongside me.

The car ride home consisted of a small boy gripping onto my right arm with a death grip, tears, hyperventilating, and lot's of outbursts. The poor thing was shaking the entire ride while his eyes were squeezed shut to the point of no return. I tried to comfort him a few times, pulling over the car and letting him breathe as I rubbed his back, but at one point I had to stop and continue home.

"We're here." I sighed in relief and pulled out the car keys while the engine revved one last time. Troye sat with his hands over his face and his legs crossed. I placed a hand on his shoulder, rubbing it slowly. "Hey Troye baby, we're stopped." He shook and peeked through his hands, turning his head towards me. He smiled and opened the door in a flash, collapsing to the ground. "Woah are you okay?" He responded with a yelp.

I climbed over his seat and jumped out of the car, crouching beside the kneeling boy.

"What are you doing?" He giggled.

"I was going to kiss the ground, but then I saw a bug and it spooked me." I shook my head and reached out my hand for him to grab, which he did.

"Let's watch a movie!"

"What movie?"

"Anything that doesn't have cars involved."
"Alright Cars 2 it is!"

"Goodbye." Troye screeched, burying himself into my chest, the rest of his body sprawled across the couch.

"Ok babe let's watch bambi then!" Troye lifted his head up, facing me.

"Why bambi?"

"You remind me of him."

"Is that a compliment."
"Yes because bambi is cute as fuck and also very clumsy."
"Wow thank you Con." He kissed my neck gently and I laughed at his tone, pressing play on the remote.

"Oh god he's so cute."

"That bunny dumper is annoying as hell."

"Aww the skunk reminds me of you because you smell like shit too."

"Oh hell no, don't go in the meadow."

"Oh oh and they go anyways ok if you die it's on yourself."

"OH GOD LOOK AT THAT ALPHA DEER HE IS HOT AS HELL."

"I want him to fuck me do you see his abs."

"Hunters are coming r.i.p."

"Con turn it off I don't want to see the momma die."

Troye sniffled beside me, gripping onto my arm. The entire movie he kept making snarky comments, but went quiet near the part when the mother died. What a precious soul. It was currently the scene where bambi was by himself in the snow, silently walking.

"What a poor baby..."

"I want to hug him..."

"I relate to him..."

"I mean, anything hurts less than the quiet..."
