Patrick's POV
I hear Emma scream, and I run in the direction of the terrible sound.
"PATRICK HELP ME PLE-E-E-ASE!!!" It was a high scream, that turned into a sob at the end. The kind of sob where it sounds like hiccups, and when you talk it gets all bumpy and sounds like your jumping and talking almost. I scramble to my feet.
"Emma?! EMMA WHERE ARE YOU?" Silence. It was pin-drop silent, only the occasional car horn could be heard. It was like everybody had disappeared. My eyes get wide, and I run in the direction of the latest scream. I come to a forest.
"Oh shit..." I whisper under my breath, and keep going. With no screams to follow, I follow the path of destruction, and eventually it stops. I look around, and soon enough, I trip over something. I turn around, and all I see is a pile of leaves. A suspicious looking, pile of leaves. How I didn't see them, I don't know, but I grab a stick, and slowly scrape the leaves away. What I see will never have the ability to leave my mind. It scarred me. Under all of those leaves, was Emma. My hand flies to my mouth and I suddenly can't breathe. She looked dead, but she wasn't. Her chest rose and fell with short, ragged breathes. I pick her up, and try and find my way out of the woods. Once we are out, I call an ambulance, in hopes she's not seriously hurt, or that it's too late. I don't know what they did to her, but if it made her pass out, it is probably not good./\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
The ambulance arrives shortly, and they put her in the back. I am allowed to ride, of course, and I crawl into the cramped space. After I situate myself on one of the benches, I grab Emma's hand, as if it was my lifeline. After arriving at the hospital, they take her into the ER to preform surgery, while I have to stay in the waiting room. I have paper work to fill out anyways.
Elisa's POV
"Nice work Dennis. Now we just sit back and let it all play out. I mean, you followed everything exactly. Correct?""Yes ma'am," he replied, "so it should start kicking in, within the next few hours."
"Good, that little bitch ruined my life. She deserves to die. I don't ever want to see her nasty little face anywhere ever again. You understand me? If this doesn't work we won't stop until we get caught or she dies. Or both."
An evil smirk crosses my face, as I sit down on my chair.
Patrick's POV
As I sit in the waiting room, waiting to hear anything about Emma, my mind wanders to the argument that I had with Pete. Perhaps I should forgive him. I mean, he was helping out the receptionist and I went overboard on my actions... but at the same time, he probably won't forgive me. I wouldn't either, if I were in his position. I have no right to demand his forgiveness. It might be something I have to earn back with time. He might never forgive me. That would break me. He's my best friend for God's sake. I don't know what I would do without him."Mr. Stump?" A voice breaks me from my train of thought, and my head snaps up.
"Yes?" I ask, wondering what is going on, and how long I've been in thought.
"You're here for Ms. Emma-Rose Stump, correct?"
I straighten up, correcting my posture, and looking intently at the nurse
"Y-yes ma'am," I reply, my voice cracking a bit at the beginning of my sentence, in fear that something bad happened to Emma.
"Well," she starts flipping throughout papers on her clipboard, "it appears on my papers that Emma is in a stable condition, for now. But just so you are aware, that could change. The person that took her injected her with a supplement that slowly kills off the cells. We are working to fight off this. She is not taking visitors right now."
