Chapter 2
RYAIRE RILEY

Eventually, I flagged an taxi cab and he stopped sharply and dangerously. I really am going to have to get used to the fast life of New York and adjust to the recklessness present. I opened the back seat as he spoke the famous two words. "Where to?" I thought quickly before responding. "145 Hills Lane New York, New York." He nodded and began our journey to my new living quarters.

Tomorrow, I will be searching for a job. I pray that there is a job that I will be able to occupy so that I can continue to pay half of the rent, the bills, and be able to treat myself whenever, without having to question if I have the money or not. I was knocked out of my trance when the taxi cab came into a complete stop. I paid the man before grabbing my duffle bag and purse, then exiting the taxi cab. The man drove off quickly as I looked for my phone once again.

Once I retrieved my iPhone, out of my purse, I went directly into the notes once again. I read 2nd Floor, 3rd door on the left. Once I read that I entered the opening of the large grey building and walked up the 1st flight of stairs until I reached the second floor. I walked slowly towards the third door and sighed deeply before knocking on it. Soon, a pretty brown-skinned girl with short blonde/gold hair answered the door.

She smiled brightly at me before giving me a key and stepping to the side to let me in. She wore a purple t-shirt with some black knee shorts and some black Nikey socks. At least here in New York, their clothes cover their body... Enough for someone to wonder what is under them. She embraced me in a friendly side hug before speaking. Honestly, I hate hugs, I barely even like people. My old middle school messed that up for me. I never really had true friends.

They were all messy so I secluded myself and stayed quiet. People started to talk about me and that's when I truly turned as some people would say, cold hearted. "Hey, my names Kira as you already know and I'm guessing you are Ry- Ry?" It took everything in my body to with hold myself from rolling my eyes at Kira for basically mispronouncing my name. I understand it's different but I cannot wait for the day when someone knows it and pronounces it correctly. That day, will be a good day. "Ryaire. Pronounced as
RY-AIR." I said politely as possible. She nodded before walking away.
