Parker White. He's here. He moved here. He's friends with this player, with Brody? Is Brody even a player-wait probably, I wouldn't doubt it, but Parker... Was he always a player and I didn't realize it? I remember girls would stare hungrily at him while we walked hand in hand, and look at me with pity. Maybe he was. Maybe he still is. My heart clenched.
My first boyfriend, the first half of the reason why I'm like this. I can't believe he's here. I knew it was naive of me to think he'd be loyal to me, but I was an excited freshman who got the attention of a sophomore. I was under his spell.
Parker gave me a lopsided smile like he'd used to, but it was different. It felt cockier, heartless, more... Player like. Was he always like this and I've never noticed?
I shook a bit and Brody gave me a squeeze, I forgot he was holding me. Why is he still holding me? Why am I letting him? Don't hurt him Danni. My mind warned. I won't. I don't want to.
"I'm Parker," he put his hand out for me to shake and then pulled it back, "I can see your hands are full. No worries I could always shake your hand later. Brody's just lucky he met you first..." He paused to let me fill in my name.
"Danni," I said choosing my words carefully.
No one called me "Danni" back then. I was nicknamed "Ella", but no one calls me that anymore.
Parker's smile grew into a smirk, "A unique name for a special girl? How fitting."
"It's a nickname dumbass," I don't know what brought me into saying that, but I'm working on auto pilot and my demon is in control.
He looked amused at this while Brody was swaying us soothingly back and forth from left to right.
"And so tell me what it's short for?"
"Daniella."
He seemed to think about something, but continued on, "Well Daniella, I do hope we meet again sometime. Brody I'll just crash in the downstairs guest room."
"I hope I never see you again," I muttered as he left, "What he even doing here? That boy I swear-"
"Daniella."
I looked up at Brody, right he was here.
"It's a pretty name," his eyebrows scrunched up for a second, "Do you know Parker?"
I cringed at his name, "Parker White, oh how I wish I never even looked at that bastard."
With that I pushed away from Brody and attempted to find my way to the kitchen for a glass of water.
It was dark and I didn't want to turn on any of the lights. Mistake number two. I bumped into a hard body and felt a warm arm hold me up while his other turn on the lights. I flinched at the sudden brightness, but looked back up to meet the stranger's brown eyes.
Ahh shit.
So they both are friends with Brody. Ladies and gents meet the second reason why I am who I am today: Jackson Stewart.
