It’s been a while
We shared a smile,
It’s been a while
We together walked a mile.
Someone somewhere said
True feelings can never fade;
May be they were sure,
But were we?
We smiled, but never believed,
We walked, but never stopped
To check if one’s left behind
To fill the empty hold of the other.
Days turned to months,
Months turned to years,
Yet we never spoke
But never left each other.
Why? They ask.
Why live together without care?
They don’t know, they won’t know
It’s the absolute solitaire we fear.
Truth blooms love for many
For us it turned a destroyer;
Had those words not spoken
Illusion of love had not broken.
Reality is better than illusion, they say.
It’s better as their life is not on that hay,
Where the red hot flecks of reality
Burns down the crux of their serenity.
It’s been a while
Since we shared a smile,
It’s been a while
Since we together walked a mile.
We will never smile
Will never walk the mile,
But will exist together
To survive that painful lie.
We may not care,
We may not share,
But till we not die
We will be each other’s moirai.
