It was the first pre-season match and me, Jack and Carlos got benched for that game. The boss said to have a look and see how the others play. We had a 1-1 draw with Aston Villa. Me, Jack and Carlos weren't paying too much attention to the game. 6 days later we had our next pre-season game we got a start against Monaco. Me and Jack was playing up front whilst Carlos was playing at CAM. We were on the front foot for all the game. We finally struck with Jack scoring a header which was crossed by me. We all went crazy. On the brink of half time we had a corner. Me and Carlos were standing outside the box unmarked. The ball came in and it was cleared straight to me. I passed it to Carlos who took a touch and banged it in the top corner. Carlos went wild as he scored his first goal for the club. Now it was my turn. On the 78th minute I scored. Our right midfielder floated the ball upfield to me when I was in the box. The goalkeeper came off his line and punched it in the air just outside the box. I outpaced all the defenders and I leaped into the air and attempted to bicycle kick it. The goalkeeper was quite far off his line and the ball sailed over his head. I was shocked that that went in.
The next game was the first league game for the season against Barcelona. Barcelona had just lost the 37 year old Messi to Chelsea. They used that money to buy Memphis Depay from PSG. It was a surprise to the Barca supporters as we won 6-0. I scored a hat trick whilst Jack scored 2 goals and Carlos scored 1. After that match we got loads of media attention. Clubs were sending in transfer requests already even though this was our second game for the club. The biggest one was £90,000,000 by Chelsea who had just won the Champions league. The boss rejected all the bids and we were staying at Athletico. This was a dream start.
