Sofie:
"I think you're making a mistake, Sofie", Amy said.
I didn't say anything, I looked at my other two friends.
"How you know she's really into girls?" said Liz.
I thought back to our make out session that I may or may not have left out of the recap of what happened today.
I suppressed a smile. "i'm pretty darn sure she is."
Liz looked at me " I'm not even going to ask,"
We grinned at each other for a minute but Leslie cleared her throat and we went back to being serious.
Liz continued, "Even if you know that, how do you know that she's not going to go right back to insulting you in front of her friends or pretend that she never said or did any of the stuff you told us about."
Leslie muttered under her breath, "And all the stuff you didn't."
I turned to her in surprise and she winked at me. That's when I knew that she trusted me on this. She might not understand it, but she knew I saw something in Ashley that went deeper than her good (great) looks and she knew I could take care of myself. And if anything went wrong, god forbid, she would be there, to pick me up and dust me off.
I gave her a big hug. "It's gonna all work out," I said.
Still hugging me she replied softly. "I hope it does, So-So" (the nickname she used to call me when we were younger)
"So do I" I heard a voice say quietly around the corner, but I pretended not notice. I also pretended not hear the sound of someone quietly jogging away, as my friends and I all started to walk to lunch.
