Emma walked down the street, unsure of what to think of the encounter with the vampires. She felt like she was being watched and glanced around the area warily. She turned at the corner and walked into a small pub. She looked at all the patrons, studying each of them carefully to make sure there were no threats as she sat down on a stool at the bar counter.
A woman was sitting in the back corner of the pub watched Emma enter, a smile played on her lips as she stood up and made her way to the bar. She sat on a stool two away from Emma and studied her openly. Her slate grey eyes searching for something.
Emma looked at the woman, she wondered why the woman was studying her so openly, most people tried to be a little discreet, "Need something?" she asked icily.
The woman smiled at her, though the smile was like that of a predator that just cornered it's prey, "Your name is Emma isn't it?" she asked, though her tone suggested she already knew the answer.
Emma looked at her warily, on guard now. "Why do you want to know?" she asked suspiciously, she didn't trust this woman in the slightest.
The woman smiled brighter, her teeth oddly white in the dank smoky pub. "You are the one who kills hunters aren't you? That's not the wisest idea you know, you are letting murderers run free." she said quietly so only Emma could hear.
Emma's hand clenched into a fist, "You don't know what you are talking about." she said coldly as she stood up to leave.
The woman's smile turned sinister, "I know more then you think." she called after Emma as she walked out.
Emma walked down the street, her posture still tense as she tried to relax. She wondered who that woman was, and what she had meant. If there hadn't have been so many witnesses she would have interrogated the woman then and there. She continued down the barren sidewalk, she pulled her collar up to ward off the chill and the cold winter wind. She scanned the shadows and around the area for any vampires, for where there were vampires, there were vampire hunters.
She looked over when she saw something moving swiftly down an alley. She quickly turned to followed it, unsure if it was a hunter or a vampire. She scanned the alleyway, but also looked up at the rooftops and fire escapes for any hunters who thought they might see a vampire with their prey. She looked up when she saw something else moving on the corner of the rooftop. She sprinted towards the figure moving down the alley, thinking it was a vampire. She tackled it and was surprised to realize that it was a hunter. She pulled out her hidden blade quickly and pressed it to the hunter's throat, not wanting to give him a chance to escape.
The hunter looked at her in shock, wondering what the hell this chick was doing. Emma smiled as she prepared to slit his throat. She stopped when she saw the figure drop from the rooftops, she recognized him as the vampire that had been with Aurora that had been hidden in the shadows. The vampire looked at the hunter, "What have you gotten yourself into now Damon?" he asked him, he looked at Emma, "You can let him go, he will not harm us."
Emma removed the blade from Damon's throat but she kept him pinned down. She looked at the male vampire, "How can you trust him? He is a hunter!" she said, wondering if he was crazy, or if vampires could even go crazy. "Ex-hunter." Damon said from under her, snapping her out of her random thoughts.
Emma looked at him, and then at the vampire, who nodded. She stood up, moving away from both of them.
Damon got to his feet and brushed off his coat, "Thanks." he said to the vampire, who nodded in reply. Emma looked at both of them, "Okay, explain." she said as she crossed her arms.
The vampire sighed lightly, "Damon used to be a regular hunter and he had tried to kill Aurora. I grabbed him before he got her and I gave him the choice to either die, or to help me. He agreed to help me. That was about six years ago, and he has killed quite a few hunters since then, saving a lot of vampires in the process. He is a good friend of Aurora and me. You can trust him."
Damon looked at Emma, "So you are the hunter killer. Nice to finally meet you, though we could have met under better circumstances." he said.
Emma nodded as she looked at them, "You're just lucky he was here to save your ass." she said as she looked at the vampire, "What's your name anyway?" she asked him
"My name is Sage." he replied as he looked at her.
Emma nodded, "Well we better get a move on, the hunters are out."
