The Voice

Jack stood on the roof of the Hub. It was raining, but he barely noticed. He watched the city as he always did. As the leader of Torchwood, Jack was used to protecting others. Downstairs, he could hear the team working. Rain water ran down his face as he stood still. After a while, he went inside. "You look like a drowned rat" his sister, Nat, giggled. "I feel like a drowned rat" Jack agreed, grabbing a towel. He dried his hair before joining them. "Anything?" he asked. "We got a call from UNIT" . Owen said. "They are having trouble with a Viperean again" Jack sighed. "UNIT needs to get their act together. Ianto, Gwen, with me"  Ianto and Gwen grab their coats and followed Jack. Before they reached UNIT, they hear a scream. Jack spins around to see a girl cornered by the Viperean. Before they could move, the Viperean bit her. Gwen and Ianto chased it as Jack crouched beside the girl. She was crying. "Shh" Jack said softly. "It's gone" The girl looked at him. "Who are you?" she asked. "Captain Jack Harkness of Torchwood" Jack answered. "What's your name?" "Melody" she said. "Ok, Melody. Can I have a look at the bite?" She nods, turning her head. Jack examined the bite. A thin trail of blood ran from it. "Could be a lot worse" Jack said. He began to treat the bite, getting the poison out. Ianto and Gwen returned. "We lost it" Ianto said, panting. Jack nods, putting a bandage over Melody's bite. "She'll be ok" he said, gently picking her up. "Where do you live?" He asked her. "219 Cherry street" Jack puts her in the SUV and drives Melody home. He hands her to her parents. "Make sure she drinks plenty of water" Jack advised. "We will" Melody's mother said. "Thank you " Jack nods, driving back to Torchwood. As he walked in, his vision suddenly went black. He heard a voice. "Beware the enemy that walks the night" Jack shook his head, trying to clear it. "Jack?" he opened his eyes to see the team staring at him. "Are you ok?" Nat asked. "Tell them nothing, or they die" the voice whispered in Jack's ear. "I'm fine" Jack said, going to his room. He fell asleep. "The darkness is returning Jack" Something sharp cut his arm, making him cry out. "This time, we will win" Jack woke up, gasping. His arm was covered in blood from a deep cut. 'Oh god' Jack thought. 'What's happening to me?!'
