Chapter 1

I zipped the last suitcase shut. It was my 22nd birthday and I was finally moving to England like I had wanted my whole life. I was a college graduate and had a bachelors degree in nursing science. I was hoping that there would be a lot of job opportunities over in the UK.

My mom was standing over me with a frown on her face. I flung my brown hair over my shoulder and sighed audibly, “Mom, I’m going, and you frowning at me isn’t going to stop me."

She sighed, "I know honey, I'm sorry. I just can't bear to see my baby move out."

I'm the youngest of three kids. There's Jake, who is married and has two kids, has a job at a law firm in NYC and is pretty much all around perfect. Cameron who is married, but doesn't have any kids, is a doctor who treats cancer patients, was a male model at one point, is also pretty much perfect. And then me, a single 22 year old who is moving away from the US, has a degree in nursing, and as far from model/perfect lawyer material as you could get.

"Stop it mom, please." I complained. She had done this to me before, guilt me into staying.

"Stop what? I'm not doing anything." she said, playing dumb.

"Guilt me into staying. Like you did before I left for college." I laughed, remembering her scene.

She gave me a smug grin, "I only do it because I love you."

I stood up and gave her a hug, "Thanks mom."

                                            *         *         *

I walked into the terminal, and then onto the plane. I shoved my phone into my back pocket, and sat down.

I was sitting silently by myself when I felt somebody sit down next to me. I groaned internally, ugh people, I thought to myself.

I turned to look at her. She had headphones in and didnt seem to notice that I was sitting next to her. I stared at her until she caught me. She pulled a headphone out, "What do you want?" She asked.

I shook my head, "Nothing, I was just waiting for you to say something, like hello."

She snorted, "I was waiting for you to say hello."

"Oh, well hi, I guess." I mumbled.

"I'm Katie, Katie Skallhorn." She said sticking her hand out.

"Serenity Cass, but I go by Sari." I shook her hand, "Where are you headed to?"

She sighed, "The UK. I have a aunt that lives out here, and I'm going to live with her."

"Why?" I didn't mean to sound nosy, but I was.

She shrugged, "Family sucks. Cliche huh?"

It was my turn to shrug, "Nah, your family could be like mine."

"Drug addicts? Abusive?" She guessed.

"No. Perfect, sets insane goals for themselves, hell my father is an actor, my mother is a big shot one time singer and my brothers are both important guys, then there's the little sister that nobody knows about."

"You said your last name was Cass right?" Katie asked.

"Yeah."

"Is your dad Ramon Cass?" she had a huge grin on her face.

I nodded slowly, "Yep, that's my daddy." I was surprised I told her the truth, I usually lie about him being my dad.

She made a face, "Wow, you do have a lot to live up to. I love all of your dad's movies. And your mom is Kimberly Hensen Cass, she was a good singer."

I nodded and turned back to look out the window. She noticed my discomfort, "I'm sorry, I guess I never knew they had a daughter, I knew about Jake and Cameron, but not about a Serenity."

"I get that a lot." I said, not breaking my gaze from the cloudy sky.

"I'm sorry," she said putting a hand on my shoulder, "You have a crazy shadow to live in."

I nodded, "You have no idea."

A/N So, this is my first story and... yeah. I hope the first chapter didnt suck too bad! I'm not very good at beginnings, they are always so slowwwwww
