I sat on the porch overlooking the lake that my grandmother lived on. I loved spending my summers here, with the cool breeze coming off the lake on a hot day. I set my book down on my lap and stared at the island in the middle of the lake. I always dreamed of going out there and building a cabin. But the island was owned by a man who hates people going on his island, especially after those boys set it on fire, and came back claiming mythical creatures lived there. Needless to say those boys are getting some mental help.
I picked up my book and struggled to read, it was going to be a long day. I got up and walked in the house, a large bird landed on the dock. "Creamer!" I yelled at Angel, one of my grandmother's dogs. She began to bark at the bird, the bird looked up and flew away. "Good job, Piggy." That's what my cousin and called her since she was so fat. I opened the door and she followed me inside. My grandmother was in the kitchen making dinner, and since Papa was home it was eggs, bacon, and sausages. I sat down on the couch.
"Can I watch tv?" I asked her.
"Yeah, turn on Bones." Grandma yelled, she pulled out the remote from the drawer and turned on the small tv above the fridge.
I turned on the tv.
"Crystal and Scarlette are coming over tomorrow, early in the morning. So go to bed before midnight." Grandma said. "Can you go get Grandpa and tell him it's time to eat, please?" She sat down in her recliner.
"Yes ma'am," I said. I pushed myself up off the couch and walked down the hallway to the front door. I went out to the garage and found Grandpa and the neighbor drinking beers.
"Sorry to interrupt but it's time to eat." I reached out and stroked the garage cat, Alley.
"Don't worry about it, you can interrupt me anytime." The neighbor said. I walked over to him and grabbed his beer out of his hand.
"You've had too much to drink." I threw the beer into the garbage can. "Come on, Papa, it's time to eat."
"I'll be in in a minute." Grandpa set down his beer and started talking to the neighbor again. I rolled my eyes and went back to the house.
I walked around the house, I even went to the creepy basement, searching for Grandma. I couldn't find her.
I ran out to the garage. "Papa! Grandma's missing" I yelled. I stopped running and saw that Grandpa and the neighbor were gone.
