(Sorry that it's taking me so long. I don't get on here much.)

I ran into the house and pulled grandpa's rifle out of his closet. I went into the living room and sat on the couch, the rifle was next to me on the couch. I was sitting on the couch doing nothing for about an hour when I heard the door open. I jumped up and positioned the gun, I was ready to shoot whoever was coming into the house.

"Woah!" Grandma yelled, she threw her hands up in the air. "Put the gun down. It's okay." I lowered the gun, relieved.

"I'm so sorry. You guys were missing and...and-" I stuttered.

"Set the gun down." Grandma said. I set it down on the couch. Grandma walked up to me and hugged me. I wrapped my arms around her. I was shaking, I had been so scared, they were gone and my parents lived five hours away and there was nothing I could do. "It's okay. Shh, it's okay." She stroked my hair and I sobbed into her shoulder.

Grandpa was standing behind her, wearing a worried expression. "Alana, I'm sorry. We should have told you where we were going. I'm so sorry for scaring you." I nodded and walked away from Grandma.

"Well dinner is done." She sighed. Grandpa and I sat in our spots at the counter which served as their dinner table, it was just the two of them so they didn't really need a big table.

We ate our eggs and bacon, after we were done eating, papa went back out to the garage. Grandma and I cleared away the table.

"So where were you guys?" I asked as I put the plates in the sink.

"We were over at the neighbor's house, his kids just arrived and we wanted to say hi. I'm sorry to worry you by not telling you we were going."

"It's okay." I picked up the rag to dry the dishes.

"No, you go sit on the couch, you shouldn't have to work when you are shaking so badly." Grandma took the rag away from me and pointed to the couch.

I nodded and turned on the tv, I laid down.

After a while I fell asleep.
