I woke up with a major headache. I rubbed my temples and opened my eyes. Crystal was across from me, still knocked out.
"She's awake." A male voice said. I looked up and saw a boy, he was about ten years old with bright green eyes and fiery red hair. He was staring down at me.
A few people walked over to us, two men and a woman. One of the men was about 17 years old and the other was around 30, the woman was the same age as the man. They all looked like the little boy who was guarding me.
"Up." The older boy said. He grabbed my arm and pulled me up. I realized that my wrists were in shackles. He drug me behind him, my feet drug behind me. How he was holding me up with one hand was beyond me.
We came up to a log building. It was at least three stories with massive, tinted windows. The woman pulled open the door and held it open for the rest of us.
"Charlie, stay out here." The woman looked down at the boy who was watching me.
"But Momma, I want to watch the meeting." The boy, Charlie, whined.
"No, go watch the other girl." The woman said.
"Crystal," I replied automatically. The boy holding me shook my arm roughly.
"Carter! Be nice, Patricia won't like it if you hand the girl over with bruises." The woman scolded the boy holding me.
The boy, Carter, glared. The women raised her eyebrows.
"Come on, they're going to start without us if we don't hurry. We've kept them waiting long enough." The man said, he pulled open the doors and ushered us all in the building. Inside it was a waiting room with a receptionist's desk straight ahead. On either side of the room there were twin waterfalls with large goldfish swimming around in the pools.
A group of kids were standing at one of the pools, laughing and talking loudly. The was an older lady walking with the group.
"These are the rare camouflage fish of Island Pond. We bring some here so that they can mate and reproduce. Now if you follow me over here you can-" The lady ran smack into me. "I'm so sorry. Princess, are you alright? You all must be here for the meeting upstairs. Little Charlie is outside pouting isn't he? I'm going to go get him, he can join the tour. They're having so much fun, Charlie will love it." She turned and looked at the woman.
"No, Martha. He wants to come to the meeting and I won't let him. He'll just try to sneak into it. Thank you though, for offering."
"Oh, it's not a problem. I love little Charlie, he's just so much fun. Have fun at your meeting, I'll be here when you need me." She looked at me again, "Trust me, you'll be needing me. Anyway, I have to go watch the children. Jimmy stop trying to grab a fish." Martha waddled over to the kids.
"Come on." Carter pulled on my arm.
"Hey, that hurts." I protested.
"Get used to it. This is going to happen a lot if you don't cooperate." He pulled on my arm again. I glared at him, he looked back at me with a bored expression. We began walking. We walked behind the desk. The receptionist nodded at us as we passed. She was young, just out of high school probably. Her eyes lingered on Carter and she glared at me when she was done gawking.
We enter the elevator and the man pressed the button for floor number twenty.
"But this building is only like three stories high. How is there a twentieth floor?"
"Magic." Carter replied. He left go of my arm and I dashed away. He glared at me as I leaned against the back wall of the elevator and then he smiled. The elevator dinged and the wall behind me disappeared. I fell backwards. Arms wrapped around me.
I looked up and there was a boy about my age. He had black hair and crystal blue eyes.
"Hey Princess. I'm Luka."
