This is the first time I've seen sunlight in weeks, standing up from the plush prison of the bed I creep towards the strand of sunlight enclosed by the deep red curtains. Barely taking three steps I am pulled back immediately into a huge muscle cage I am all too familiar with. With its heat burning my delicate skin with a strange, soft hardness that can only be acquired by the Beast. My Beast.

"No sweetheart, you're not strong enough to walk alone yet. What is it that you need? Anything you want and it's yours." He murmured gently into my ear.

I inwardly rolled my eyes and inhaled deeply through my nose; I understand he cares, but this is ridiculous.

"Baby, please look at me. Does it hurt again? Do you need more medication? Darling please look at me." He pleaded quietly. I turned to face him, slightly cowering from his dangerous onyx eyes. Lifting my chin carefully with his enormous hand, he gazes into my eyes with an adoring yet worried look. "Do you need anything, my love?" I shake my head lightly and he presses me further into his heated barrier of a chest, again inhaling my scent for the billionth time and kissing every part of my exposed shoulder and neck; before covering me with a soft blanket. "I love you, mate." he breathed into my ear, before laying me down for another medication induced sleep.

How much longer will it be like this?

In a world dominated by Werewolves, a human life nothing of importance, a slave to their kind; nothing but free labour and maybe a punching bag. The only reason the Werewolves have not completely wiped out the human race is because of a minuscule chance that a human could be a mate to one of the Weres.

Now, a mate is the most cherished, sacred being a Werewolf could need in their life. They spend their lives searching and scouring the planet for their soul-mate. A mate is a reason to live and a reason to die. If you harm ones mate you're obviously a goner. Nothing in the world can compare to a mates love and affection.

To a human, having a mate will save your life, but also end your almost freedom. Werewolves view humans as weak, stupid and fragile, but having them as a mate is the most wonderful thing that could ever happen to them, why? Because Weres strive to care and provide for their mates, werewolves with another werewolf mate subconsciously find themselves competing on who can provide and care better; and as human are so 'weak' it's a 'blessing' that the mate is human. They become extremely possessive and usually obsessive.

Overworked Nova is the definition of a 'human slave' in the World of Werewolves, with little to no food she is bounced around the world from factory to factory to work. That is her purpose after all. Until she is imported to the famously feared North-West Pack to work at some new factory. Unknowingly she stumbles onto Alpha Goddard's private territory on her way to her new living quarters.

Alpha Goddard chose the perfect night to let his wolf form have a stretch in his own forest. For over 500 long years he has been waiting for his mate, he knew that he would love his mate as soon as he laid his midnight black eyes on her; well, he already does love her. He's in for the most marvellous surprise of his long, lonely life. And poor Nova is in for the biggest shock of hers.

The Beast.
