Chapter1:

The cargo train whistled deafeningly again, as all us humans waited outside each carriage in the bleak, cold and rainy train station. That damned blaring of the train making me jump out of my skin every forty seconds. I leant against the faded blue importing carriage, shielding my face from the unpleasant cold spitting of the rain. Staring at my bare dirty feet on the worn out deck of the train platform, I see a familiar pair approaching mine. Looking quickly I see my only friend and family Jamie. Jamie is the only person I ever had contact with regularly, since we are similar ages we get imported to the same Packs to work once we had finished our services.

Gazing at him with a relived look, I sigh content. My worrying before had vanished knowing he is with me once again. If Jamie wasn't with me, I'd lose my shit. We stare at each other with a knowing look, if we share any positive emotion to each other the monsters will separate us; and probably kill one of us too.

The green in Jamie's eyes are enough to tell me that I won't be alone for a while. His shaggy unkempt, dark brown hair still in its untameable state give me a strange comforting feeling. He leans towards me keeping his guard up, yet still seeking my presence.

"Where do you think we'll end up this time, Nova?" he whispers anxiously. I simply shrug, I'm not much of a talker. He lifts his head and lets out a deep breath at the gloomy sky.

We stay silent with the rest of us, rest of the humans anyway. A burly giant like form with animalistic features stomps his heavy muscled legs up a large podium, hair dark, stature tense, with their trademark black merciless eyes, staring daggers into our souls; his incredibly tall frame standing at least 8"5. Another reason humans are out-ranked by these monstrosities. In his right arm was a small... bag? No, it's breathing. It's a human mate. Poor thing, her head is stuffed into the beast's neck, as if we were terrifying creatures that would startle his little mate. He rocked her back and forth soothingly, whispering sweet nothings in her ear. Her head popped out his neck, but was still in his secure grip. It's obvious she was a human mate, with her high quality, warm clothing and her fuller healthy form. Unlike us, who wore rags and were covered in dirt and oil from factory work; not to mention our starved forms shivering in the upcoming winter air. I look back at Jamie, only to see he is staring at the mated, alien like, couple. As is everyone else.

The monster hides her back into the 'safety' of his neck and lets out a low rumble, silencing us even more, if possibly. We snap our eyes back the monster quickly making sure not to make eye contact.

"Listen up, scum." He scowls loudly. "I want three groups lined up outside each cargo crater. Fail to do so and you know the consequences." He hollers, usually they would tell the consequences, but I can tell he is just trying to keep his mate calm and content.

We all quickly scram outside each cargo crater in record time and wait for our next command. I make sure to get Jamie in the same cargo crater as me, sometimes the different cargo craters go to different factories and I can't bare to lose Jamie, he's all I have. More werewolf guards arrive on the platform, all of them head up high in a superior manor and the cold glare that accompanies with it. One by one they each open the sliding doors with an unnecessary force creating a deafening crash, causing me cower in fright in the familiar embrace of my only friend.

"Step forward, one by one." The heavily muscled, auburn haired guard in front of our cargo door hollered, dropping a bag of chains beside him.

Oh no...

One at a time the 'slaves' in front of me stepped cautiously towards the coal eyed demon, palms of hands lifting towards his self. The metallic clash of chain and cuffs being clenched across their bony wrists was heard from all the entrance doors of the cargo crates. Soon there was no one in front of me and it was now my turn to be snagged back into our daily lives of our own misery. Jamie gave me an encouraging push towards the keeper of the cuffs. And I let myself be imprisoned again. Holding my shaking hands to the chain bearer, he pulls out another pair of his endless supply of hand cuffs, and clanging the sharp metal to my wrist; making sure to slice my skin in the process. I refrain from whimpering, knowing it will be 'against the code of human rights' therefore I will receive multiple lashes.

Rights? What rights do I have? What rights do any of us have?

I hear the wolf-man snigger at my failed attempt of a painless face, as he throws me with much force into the cargo crater. I take a seat on the cold, damp, wooden floor of the crater, which I will be sharing with twenty plus people, bound up in cuffs. Keeping my head down, I stare at the bleak floor in front of me, until I see yet another body being thrown into the dark hole leading us to hell.

Looking up I see the concerned doe eyes of Jamie, them constantly flickering from my eyes to my wrists. He quickly takes the seat beside me also opposite the door and bites his lip in worry inspecting my wrists again. Gazing down at my own wrists I finally understand his worry. My skinny, pale wrists are now coated in half- dried blood from scratches and scrapes from the rusty, decaying, needle-like cuffs.

This can't be good.

Jamie wraps his hefty, cuffed hands around mine; at least trying to make an effort of comfort me in this situation. To be honest, I don't feel the pain. I don't want to so I won't; it is the only choice I can make. Softly cuddling into Jamie embrace, well as much as we can with cuffs around our wrists. I sigh in almost content, as the others in this dark, gloomy crater huddle up together for warmth, including me.

Our sniffles and shivers were silenced when deafening boom sound emitted from the door being slammed shut. I swear they get a kick out of frightening us all half to death every five minutes.

"I overheard some of the guards saying that we're going to the North- West Pack." Jamie murmurs lowly, just loud enough for everyone on board to hear. Gasps and panicked breathing were now being herd around the crater.

No... Of all the Packs in the world why the North- West Pack?

Rumour has it that the North- West Pack is the most deadly of all Packs combined. I have heard human and low-ranked Weres have been killed on sight just for walking to slow. Also the Weres there are more lethal, because other Weres are too scared to travel there, so less chance of finding your mate; and if you don't find your mate you go crazy. Savage murderer type crazy. Don't even get me started on their Alpha. Alpha Goddard. That bloodthirsty maniac has been mateless for thousands of years. My deepest sorrows for whoever is mated to that beast.

The train whistled deafeningly once again and movement was felt under us. Progress of the carriage movement increased, proving my thoughts of travelling at full speed. North. Why does it have to be north? We'll freeze to death out there and become huma- Oh, that's why we're being imported up north. The other humans froze to death.

An involuntary shiver ran through my body, not one of cold, but one of fright. Jamie did his best to comfort me, by holding me closer and creating friction between our bodies, attempting to stay warm. I know that Jamie knew that we were replacing dead humans, I know him to well and I know he is too smart for a human like us. Even though he is intelligent, he can't decipher our outcome from the events ahead of us. And that's what terrifies me. That's what terrifies all of us.

The North- West Pack.
