Was it worth it?

A few days had gone by since that day we came back from scavenging. The chit chat was barely subsiding. Everyone and i mean every single person was in an uproar when i decided to bring Michelle home. I wasn't about to leave her out there to try to fend for herself, not after what happened to me when all this crazed mania started. Anyways. When we got back that day we decided that Michelle would stay in my room. I gave her my bed and I've been sleeping on the floor. It really isn't that bad compared to other places I've slept.

Right now i was just laying on Liz's bed since she'd gone out with my sister to just walk around. I was leaned up against the wall reading a book called Hush, Hush. So far in reading it I was liking the story-line. It was so quiet and then all of a sudden i heard the door open and loud laughing. I fell off the bed because i got scared. *THUD* I groaned as i felt the lump starting to form on my head. "Oh Ash are you okay," Michelle rushed over to me and helped me sit up. I was rubbing my head a bit, "Yea I think so. Just a bump is all." She sighed and sat there next to me. Her hands kind of curled up and just resting on my thigh.

I looked up at her and smiled softly. "So how's your day been going?" I asked as I reached to grab my book. She smiled a big beautiful smile and said, "It's been amazing the guys and Stella took me out and showed me around the small areas." I chuckled,"Well that's good. As long as you're doing good. " I opened my book back up and continued reading. A couple of minutes went by and i felt her staring at me. I scrunched my nose and i looked over at her. "What?" I asked as she kinda fidgeted around. "Do you wanna join us?" She asked as she pointed to the door, which i now realized had my 3 eager friends standing in its way.

I laughed a little as i put my bookmark back into the book. "I don't see the harm in it so why not," I say standing. She got all excited when i said yes, "Oh Ashley this should be so much fun." I smiled a bit. I put my book in my box that is under Liz's bed and i grabbed my shoes. I looked at the other three, "So where exactly are we going and did you ask her?" They nodded their heads in unison and Logan spoke,"Towards the lake." I tied my shoes and said, "Shall we get going then?" Michelle bounded out of the room after the other three. I closed the door behind. They'd already told the adults that we'd be back soon so they didn't have to worry.

One by one we walked out the door. I was the last one out so i shut the door behind me. They all took off sprinting towards the lake and I just walked slowly behind. I liked looking around. I mean yea granted after all the stuff that's happened to Earth there really isn't much to look at, but every once in a while if you're lucky you find places that really had no effect from everything. Those right there are the best places you can find. Liz and I found the Lake a little while after she started feeling up to going outside. It's not that far from where both of us used to live. Anyways yea decided when we grouped up with people that we should share it with them. Hence them all knowing where it's at.

I hadn't been paying attention to what was in front of me and i ended up walking right into Stella. I stumbled backwards and onto the ground as i look up at her. She was trying not to laugh as she stretched out a hand. "Are you okay?" she asked pulling me up as i took her hand. I dusted myself off and looked at her, "Yea that was my bad i wasn't paying attention." She jumped on my back and held on like a monkey. "Yea i know you weren't that's why i stopped so that i could walk with you." She said as she kissed my cheek. I smiled some as i kept walking. We weren't that far off the Lake now. Just a little further. "Hey Stella can i ask you something aside from this question," I say as she nods her head.

"Why do like you me?" I asked as i continued walking. I could feel her smiling and she says, "Because I just do. You're special to me. You always have been." I blushed a bit turning my head away from where she couldn't see me. She giggled a little bit and tilted my head back kissing me softly. I kissed her back. "I love you i don't just like you." she said. I smiled, "Yea i know. I love you too." It's true yea Stella and I were a thing. We broke up a while after everything that happened. Doesn't mean i don't still love her. I'm just not in love with her. Guess that's the reason behind her being so lovey dovey with all of us. I don't think she cares whether or not we're together just as long as I'm still in her life. I'm glad she's still in mine. "Thanks for answering my question." I said just as we got to the Lake.

She hopped off my back and looked around before asking, "Why the sudden question?" I shake, "Just a question is all. Thought you'd hate me or something." She laughed. "Why would you think that?" I looked at the guys and Michelle playing around in the water. "I have a crush on her." i say following Michelle with my eyes. Stella smiled and i could tell she was genuinely happy for me. "Just don't be stupid and let her get away yea?" She said as she kissed me again and walked away. I smiled softly and whispered, "Thanks Stell." I walked over towards Logan and James. "Well gee first you invite me and i'm thinking you actually love me, but then you leave me all to my lonesome to walk over here. What a shame. Stella really is the only one that loves me." i say sitting at the edge of the lake.

"Now now sweetie you know such nonsense isn't true." James said as he swims up to me resting in between my legs his arms wrapped around my waist. I smiled and kissed his forehead. "Yes well it would be nice if the next time you walk with me my secret gay lover." He sh'ed me and whispers loud enough for every one to hear, "Shh Darling that's our little secret." He smiled and winked just as he swam away back to Logan and Stella. Everyone was laughing a little and i just watched. I could feel someone looking at me so i looked around and realized Michelle was sitting at the opposite end of the lake. Her beautiful honey gold eyes watched my Silky green ones. I smiled some as i watched back. i saw her smile and then disappear into the water. I ran my hand through my hair and leaned back propping myself up on my elbow. Before i could even functionally realize what was going on i was under the water staring at her. Guess she thought it'd be funny to pull me in. I touched her cheek softly, smiling and then surfaced. Now everyone was laughing.

I whipped my hair as I climbed out sitting on the edge not wet. "You know i really hate that you have the cooler powers." Logan said as he splashed water at me. I chuckled a bit. "Not my fault you suck buddy." I say as I lay back looking around. I closed my eyes for a couple of minutes and when i opened them again Liz was standing over me. I jumped and fell into the water again. I sighed under the water and swam back up. "Where the hell'd you come from?" I say climbing out again. I ran my hands through my hair again pushing it back this time. She smacked me hard enough that everyone heard the thud, "We gotta get home loser. I wasn't that far away from you." I stood up and looked at her rubbing the back of my head. "You okay?" I asked as i saw the bit of worry clouding her face.

"Yea let's just get home okay the sun's going down." I patted her head, "Alright let's go everyone." I say calling to the other 4. Stella climbed on my back again and i laughed. "You're not as light as you think you are you know. " She smacked me too. "Well goddamn is it smack Ashley day." I said sarcastically right before i took off. Every one followed me still being the fastest even with Stella on my back. We got back and all went to our rooms. I fell asleep on the floor before i could even eat. I felt someone covering me, but i was so tired that i just ignored it and knocked out for the rest of the night.
