Life was terrible. What's the point in living if you have no one?
It had been a month. A Solid month. I had been going to school and work. These were a waste of time. My Friends had disowned me. The believed that my mum was killed by a crazed druggie and thought that if they got to close to me, that the same could happen to them. Alex had left for a vacation so i couldn't even talk to him about the note or this women or maybe get the chance to rip his face off. Work was usually happy and busy. Now people won't come into the store. That's why Maggie had to let me go. The last bit of string tying me together. She said that now the summer has began she needs to make money and that i was holding her back?!
It was a Tuesday. I was sitting looking for B&B's to stay in. Maybe i could move to America. Its warmer there or maybe i would just leave. I mean, my bags were packed from my last attempted run-away. Suddenly the phone rang. Maggie wasn't old but she did need a little help in the technical department. The old 50's phone chimed through the dull, plain house. I dragged me feet down the hall to the small brown polished table.
"Hello, Harper speakin-" i was cut off by a deep, strong voice.
"Hello, i was hoping to catch you Harper. My name is Henry. Henry Shifter. I heard about your dear mother and heard that you were going out of town soon. I think that maybe you should stay- ohh my wife wants to talk to you. She's better at explaining" a women voice suddenly drummed down the phone.
"Hello my dear, What Henry is saying is that we are offering you a place to live. Rent free. Free food, water. The works you name it. We think that the terrible murder of your mum was saddening. Its not right for a girl of your age to be left alone without a mother or father-" The women paused. How did she no about my father. It wasn't in the paper.
"anyways, i new your mother. The first day you moved here i became great friends with her. A Great women. I think she would want her daughter looked after by nice people and not by foster family's and other people-" The thought sickened me. This women new my mom. Her warm, kind voice sounded soothing compared to Maggie's ruff voice. This women some how reminded me of my mother. "ohh and Harper, My name is Elizabeth. Im sure we will meet very soon. Here's Henry."
"Ok, Harper. What do you think?" i was gobsmacked. My head was spinning.
"N-no, its to much trouble. I was planning to head south and maybe go to England or go over-sea's somewhere. You know, so nobody could find me-"
"Ohh No, That cant happen. That would explain the other visi-" Henry was mumbling to himself then snapped back. "Harper Please come, Most of our children are away at college or sightseeing. It will be no hassle."
"ok, i will grab some things then you can come and get me, ok?" i couldn't argue anymore. I wonder if these shifters were related to Alex's family. Hmmm . He was on vacation anyways.
I drove over to my house. It felt different when i entered the once happy entrance hall. It was now dark and musty. I took a deep breathe and headed upstairs to my room. My head was thumping. Something inside me had been ripped apart and that was aching. I walked in and quickly took my eyes off the wood flooring. The carpet had been ripped out and was lying in the hall. I focused and grabbed lots of suitcases and personal things from my mum's room. I ran around the house grabbing clothes and items. The door bell rang. I was shitting myself!!! Who was it!!.
"Harper, Hunnie its Elizabeth Shifter." The beautiful voice came my heart rate down. I came out of the kitchen and opened the door. A tall, Brown haired, Beautiful women stood in the doorway. She had on a cute shirt and black skinny's. Wow! What age was she! I've never seen a women that age were skinny's and look good in them. She came over a gave me a big hug. Her hugs matched my gran's hugs. They Supported you when you needed it.
"ok, Sweet pee. Let's get your things in the car." She grabbed all 5 suitcase's and loaded them into her big jeep. She must be super strong because it took me an hour to drag all of them down those stairs. I laughed at myself. She must be like super-mom. I grabbed the last couple of cases and Hopped into the massive jeep.
We drove across town listening to metro station. We drove past cameo's house and Kate's and Nearly all my friends. Elizabeth, who liked being called Liz, took a small turn up towards the hills. The Shifter Manor was Brighter than usual. More Alive. OMG, I was going to live there?
"Liz, Where do you live?" she smiled at me.
"We Just Moved back into Shifter Manor. It's So nice to be back." Her focus shifted to the snake like road. I tried to focus on something to focus on but i couldn't. The Just Moved Back? But Cameo said that place had been empty for years. Wait, i lied. For hundreds of years! The car came to a stop. Liz rolled down the window and pushed in some numbers.
"If you ever, ever need to get back in, The code is 1545." The Giant iron gates swung open and the car moved forward. Then I could see the Manor.
Ok, i think i passed out. Wait I'm still hear. Wow! Place was massive. Wait, Bigger than Massive. The car stopped and Liz disappeared round the back of the car. Ok, she's definitely is Super-moom. The Black door of the Manor opened and a short skinny man appeared from inside. His bowed his head at Liz; who was now outside my door, and handed the butler (which I'm guessing) all of the suitcases. Ok. I must be really , really weak. I mean. 5 cases and 3 bin liners? What are they on! Whatever it is, i want some!!! I laughed and Liz seemed to notice. She opened the door then lead me to the house.
**an hour later**
I had met Henry and the maids! He was Kind and Cheerful. But he stared at me funny. When i ate he examined me as if he had never seen anybody eat before. I was now standing outside with Liz. It looked like it was gonna rain.
"Ok, Harp. Follow me and i will show you where your staying for now." She walked rather fast. Almost like she wanted to run but then realized that she had forgotten something and then it would repeat. We went into deep woods. It all felt so...Familiar. we headed down a path. I could hear a waterfall or river in the distance and... ok this felt strange. Liz stopped at the edge of the forest to reveal something that put shivers down my spine.
Ohh, very mysteries what do you think that thing/object/place/person blah blah blah. I could go on for hours. So, what do you think will happen and what has sent shivers down Harpers Spine?????:O
