"Why is she always hanging around his screening area?" Some of the extra-cast members whispered to each other as a girl with long tan legs and long dark brown hair talked happily with Tom. Casually touching his arm now and then as he smiled at her.
Emma had a frown on her face as she watched the exchange going on between them, it wasn't out of the ordinary that girls would go to his side and flirt or talk with him. She shouldn't have been feeling jealous about it. Not many knew that secret relationship going on between them, it was something new and she enjoyed every moment of her time spent with him. Although their schedules were different as the Harry Potter franchise moved onto the next and filming became split.
They would only get to see each other if they had the same schedule, sometimes snuck off together to have some happy couple time. But it was times like this that it really annoyed her.
"I absolutely adore your acting skills!" The girl giggled
"Thank you, its nothing really...Just a bit of practice is all." He responded, not feeling the heat of Emma's glare.
"We should go out and have a drink sometimes!" The girl smiled at him
"Heh, Uhm...That would be nice but working on set is very demanding." He smiled at her.
"Anyways, there's this after party tomorrow night, it'll be at Studio 338 and its gonna be killer." She grabbed a pin from the table next to her, "Here's my number, just give me a ring or send a text if you decide on going."
"...Thanks" Tom took the piece of paper from her and put it in his pocket.
Emma snorted, he didn't even say his girlfriend wouldn't appreciate him going off with a random older assistant. Not that she looked down on non-actors. It was just the fact that her boyfriend wasn't brushing off this girl. The girl was very pretty, everything she was not. Somewhat opposite of her, not to say that she didn't like to party once in a while but from the stories she heard...they weren't to different.
That night she confronted him about what she'd just witnessed.
"Don't you trust me? She just asked, we're just friends." Tom huffed, leaning against her room's wall, watching her.
"I trust you but today I saw her give you a slip of paper with her contacts on it." She muttered, crossing her arms in-front of her.
The sound of traffic could be heard from the open patio door, the evening was turning to night.
"If you want to go then we'll go, but I don't know. She's just a friend and wants to hang out. So what do you say? Do you want to?" Tom asked her
"I'm not sure if I'd be welcomed. It seems like a private thing. I wouldn't want to impose on their thing. But anyways, I still have to go to dinner with Daniel and Rupert. It's mandatory." She frowned
"Well, don't worry. Nothing will happen. Its just a party." He said
"Alright, I trust you." She smiled walking towards him. Stepping on her tip-toes, wrapped her arms around him and kissed him. He smiled down at her, although his kiss felt light and hesitant. He kissed her back.
The day they broke up was a normal day. The sky was overcast with clouds there but there wasn't any rain. People enjoyed the semi-warm winter weather. Inside a flat, a couple could be heard arguing rather loudly.
"This is frustrating! We work together and see each other every chance we get, yet this relationship isn't working out!" Tom yelled in frustration and a hand running through his hair as he paced around his expensive London flat. Emma sat on the leather couch near him.
"I'm trying to make it work Tom!" Emma tried to reason with him, her voice cracking. "We've just been very busy! And all the rumors about our personal lives going around, the tabloids and the photographers trying to catch something unexpected. You know how I feel about you! You've always known! " She was on the verge of tears.
"Don't try to pin this on me!" Tom turned towards her, eyebrows fused.
"I'm not pinning this on you, however this happened. It is just as much my fault as anyone else's!" She sniffled.
"I'm feeling a bit..." Tom looked at the floor.
"What...?" Emma looked up at him angrily
"...." He looked at her
"What do you feel...Cold, distant? What..." She asked, tears at the corner of her eyes.
"I need some time...to figure this out. Everything happened so- quickly. I'm not the best at this sort of thing."
"What sort of thing?"
"I...don't know...exactly how to say it...It isn't working out." He sat down on the small couch away from her.
She stood up and looked down at him
"Don't! Don't you dare say that! I've been literally trying everything to save what we have! And that girl has been trying to throw herself at you! I've seen what's been going on! I'm not blind!"
"That isn't fair!" He shouted
"That isn't fair? I see the way you look at her...I know because- you use to look at me that way." She sniffled.
"Emma...I-"
"No, yo-you just start being realistic. What you said is true, The fact is we're not really getting anywhere. "
"I'm not trying to hurt you. I'm ju- I'm just tired of disappointing you."
"I know."
"Emma...I'm very sorry." He said
"So...this is it..."
"This is it."
"How do you look at the guy you love and tell yourself that its time to walk away..." Emma cried, quickly wiping the tears away and turned away from him.
"Goodbye Emma." Tom's voice almost cracked, and she grabbed her bag, walking briskly to to the door willing herself not to look back at him.
She would never forget him, although they had to deny their involvement with each other for the sake of their careers and past relationships.
They parted ways, never the same and feelings lingered.
