The Way of the Voice

The Greybeards have summoned my brother and I to their monastery of High Hrothgar on the slopes of the Throat of the World. They seem to have learned of the mysterious power that we both gained when we had killed the dragon outside of Whiterun.

"Alright, off to the Throat of the World! But, before we go, I need to train you brother," I said. Every day for about three weeks, I trained Thrynn. Battling in one weapon and shield battles. Blocking each attack with either his weapon or shield. Then next I taught him how to properly use a two handed weapon, making sure each swing was as fast as it could be, making sure the impact of the blade or hammer would slice or crush all those who opposed him. When it was to archery, he was pretty impressive. He aimed perfectly, not missing a single shot. In one of our training sessions, he nearly shot through my armor.

Since he could use a blade or mace pretty nice, I wanted to make sure he could make and hone his own. Eventually, I found out that he was a pretty great thief, one night, he broke into my room to scare me. I don't know how he managed to do that, I can always hear the tiniest sound, weather it's from across the country or the falling of snow, I can always hear. But, Thrynn got me good, especially for picking the lock on my eight lock iron door, for my little private room in Jorrvaskr.

On the last week of our training session, I found that he had inner magic abilities. We had fun with magic. I taught him everything I knew, from strengthening your skin to making your foes into a pile of ashes. He was a master enchanter, a master alchemist. He was basically me now, with every single thing perfectly.... perfect.

It was now time to get our gear ready. The trip to the city below the mountain would be two days long. The trip up the mountain might be a week, considering that the weather will go against us in this season of Frostfall. The snow shall be falling, the wind would make the air frigid. Water would turn to ice in a matter of minutes. No matter though. We are nords, and us nords are resistant to the cold of our homeland.

"Alright, brother. You are now as good as me. We might be the most powerful nords in Skyrim, but we are still mortals. We cannot live without food or drink." I said.

"So, I guess we should make a list of what we need to travel?" Asked Thrynn.

I nodded. "Hey, follow me, I need to get you suited." Together we walked to Jorrvaskr. Thrynn hadn't become a Companion yet, but he would live there as a guest. He knew Aela, he was great friends with Skjor, Vilkas didn't like him too much. Farkas, he-um.... I'm no sure about Farkas. He isn't the sharpest blade on the rack.

As we walked through the door we bumped into Skjor, I asked him if there was an extra set of Wolf armor. "Go check with Eorlund, he might have a couple to spare." Just as Skjor had said, there were some steps of armor.

"Alright brother," Thrynn said, "Which one do you think'll fit me?" He grabbed a set, put on his armor over his clothes, it felt like I was looking in a mirror. He was now in his armor. I went to the smithies and hardened both of our armors, sharpened our Skyforge blades, and received the strongest nord-made shield; a Skyforge Steel Shield. It looked like the usual steel shield, only, it had matched the wolf armor's cream color. It was reflecting the sun, blinding my uncovered eyes.

"Thank you, Eorlund for these magnificent shields." I said, shaking Eorland's hand.

"I hope they serve the both of you well, Dragonborns." Eorlund replied. With that, Thrynn and I walked back to my quarters, sat down and made our list:

Ale

Bread

Cooked Salmon

Bed rolls

Tents

Apples

Clothes

Our Weapons and Armor

We didn't have too much, but it would only be nine day trip, by foot of course. Now if we go by horseback we might be able to make it within five nights. I informed Thrynn and we stole some horse with all our required items and made way to High Hrothgar.

At the top of the seven thousand steps was an ebony black building. It looked grim, but seemed warm and trustworthy. Inside the building would be the Greybeards. The men who summoned my brother and I. The ones looking for the Dragonborn. We walked up the few stairs leading up to the door.

"Are you ready, brother?" Thrynn said.

I turned to him, put my hand on his shoulder, "Yes, brother. Today we shall know the meaning behind this summoning." Together we walked through the large heavy doors. Inside were four elderly men. Three of them off to the sides, one in the middle, looking as if he was praying. He stood up. And turned to us. I walked forward and Thrynn following.

"So, the Dragonborns appear, at this moment in the turning of the age." The Greybeard said.

"You call us Dragonborn..." I began.

"What does that mean?" Thrynn finished.

"First, let us see if you both truly are Dragonborn. Let us taste of your voices."

FUS! Thrynn went.

FUS! I followed.

The Greybeard stumbled back a little when our voice hit him. He looked back at us, "Dragonborn... it is you. Welcome to High Hrothgar." The three other Greybeards walked our way, going to the side of the one speaking to us. "I am Master Arngeir, I speak for the Greybeards. Now, tell me Dragonborn, why have you two come here?"

"We want to find out what it means to be Dragonborn." Thrynn and I said in unison.

"We are here to guide you in that pursuit, just as the Greybeards have sought to guide those of the dragon blood before you." Arngeir replied.

"You mean, we're not the only Dragonborns?" I asked.

"You are not the first, there have been many of the dragon blood, since Akatosh first bestowed that gift upon mortal kind. Whether you are the only Dragonborns of this age, that is not ours to know. You two are the only ones that have been revealed thus far. That is all I can say."
