Hi there, welcome to my book. As you read in the description—if you did read that—there is smut in this book. Some of it you may not accept, and I ask you to kindly skip over it rather than harassing those who like it. Also, if you only came here for steamy smut, then I feel bad. I'm not the best writer of smut, and this collection of short stories is very fluffy.

LOTS OF FLUFF. So if you ignored this note then I feel bad. This is very FLUFFY and the chapters are VERY LONG. Also, I am slow at updating, and I'm a perfectionist so if I post something with a grammatical error or a spelling error, I will go back and edit it because it will drive me insane.

THIS IS ALSO VERY IMPORTANT. I'm rewriting all of these chapters; this is a rewrite of the previous chapter. For those who have read this before, please read the rewritten ones. I feel like they are much better. If you just got here, please only read the rewritten ones as I update them. Sorry for all of this, but I'm so displeased with the former chapters. I WILL NOT DELETE THE OLD CHAPTERS, IF ANYTHING; I WILL MAKE THEM PRIVATE SO THEY'RE STILL ACCESSIBLE.

SORRY FOR THE CAPS. I KNOW THAT IT'S VERY ANNOYING.

Okay, I really hope you enjoy reading. Please vote or leave a comment of what you think. I will try to get the next rewrite uploaded on here soon, but lord knows I cannot stick to my own deadlines sometimes.

WARNING, THIS IS VERY, VERY IMPORTANT. There is a point in this short story where triggering events happen, such as rape. I put some detail in there, so if you are queasy or you just really don't want to read that, I suggest skipping over the dream. Thank you.

The song is Damien Rice – Rootless Tree. You should listen to it, it's a good song and I think it fits the chapter well.

1.)  Eat Me (Cade Warden)

I move the old rag over my forehead, wiping off the sweat being caused by the heat. I close my eyes and lean my head back, letting myself enjoy the feeling of the sun on my skin. No matter what happens, the sun will always be up there to remind me of when things were normal.

As I keep my eyes shut and try to relax, I can hear the children playing—almost like it was in the old days. Sometimes I wonder if Serena is somewhere out there with my mom, somewhere she can grow up and be safe. However, as quick as the hopeful thoughts enter my head, they leave.

I already know that everything has been taken over. So why do I still hope there are good people still alive out there? The ones that are still living have all gotten someone else's blood on their hands. The people that I've seen... This group and these people are the only truly good ones I've seen since this... apocalypse. The things that the people on the outside of this group have done...

My eyes open and I stand up, feeling my need to get away from the others grow stronger than it has been all day. "I'm going to patrol." I tell Lisa. She looks at me after I say this, and her eyebrows draw together from confusion and curiosity.

"Ryder's already on patrol." She tells me as if I didn't already know.

"Yeah, better safe than sorry though." I sigh and she hesitantly nods her head in agreement, seemingly unsure.

"Well, be careful." She tells me.

I pull the rifle's strap off from around my shoulders and hand it to her. She gives me a look of perplexity as she takes it, so I explain, "In case one gets past the wire, it's better that you have the gun. I'll use my knife."
