A thirteen year old Piper walked down the street, on her way to her Papa's shop. Piper was small for her age. She carried a load of books with her as she walked. Like her mother, she loved to read. Piper was like her mother in many ways. Some people in storybrooke didn't even believe that Piper was the daughter of Rumpelstiltskin. She was always so nice and sweet to everyone. Piper was born without powers, and due to Rumple's heart being so dark at the time she was conceived, Piper was born with a weak heart. Of course, she was never informed of this. If she was, she'd want to know why, like any curious girl would. Wanting to know why would lead to finding out that her Papa was dark, and Belle nor Rumple wanted that. With Piper being powerless, along with a weak heart, Rumple cast a spell on Piper while she was in the womb. It was, in a way a protection spell. She couldn't be harmed or be affected by most kinds of magic. He didn't want to lose Piper like he did Bae (Neal). Again, Piper was not informed about this. She always just figured that she was lucky or just really careful. Piper loved her mother dearly, but she had to admit, she was very close to Rumple. Piper pushes the door open to his shop, causing the little bell to ring. Rumple looks up from a silver goblet he was holding. He spots Piper and smiles. His family brought him joy.
"Hello Papa!," Piper says with a cute giggle.
She walks over to Rumple, setting her books aside. Rumple nods.
"Hello my girl," he says.
Since Rumple and Belle both had accents, Piper's voice ended up being a mix of the two.
"What's that?," she asks and points to the goblet. Rumple turns and lifts the cup.
"This, is a very special possession of mine. You pour in water, close your eyes, wish for something, open them, and whatever you wished for appears in the cup," he says.
He looked so happy and proud when he spoke about magic. Piper was always fascinated by magic. You could do a mortal and simple card trick and she'd be amazed.
"Woah...that's cool," she says.
Rumple nods once more.
"Yes..," he states.
Piper continues to study the cup. Rumple loved how Piper took everything in. She always kept an open mind. Piper was given a majority of Belle's looks. For example, the pale skin, facial shape, and cheek bones. However, she had Rumple's light brown hair, and hazel eyes. Her cheeks were always rosey red.
"Papa..?," she asks and looks up at him.
Rumpelstiltskin smiles down at his little girl and strokes her hair.
"Yes, Piper?," he asks.
Piper takes a deep breath before speaking. She always wondered this.
"Why dont I have magic..?," she asks.
Since she was born without magic, she was ordinary. Everyone in storybrooke seemed to have magical properties one way or another, but not her. Due to this, she felt sort of...left out.
Rumple sighs and looks at her sadly. How could he answer this?
"Piper..not everyone is born with magic...and sometimes magic isn't always a good thing, but just because you dont have magic,  it doesn't make you any less special," he says.
Piper stares up at her father and nods. She understood, but still..deep down, she wanted magic. She wanted to be like her Papa. To most people, Rumple was a coward. To Piper, he was her hero. She adored him, and in her eyes, he would never be a coward.
