"CARTER EVANS, GIVE THAT BACK!" I jumped with all my might to reach the book that Carter just got from me. "Nu-uh."

Carter and I became best friends, eventually. But just as I was starting to think that he was so nice to me...He was actually the type of guy who likes to play around with my 'shortness' and 'weakness' and 'stupidity'.

"I need to know what happens next!" I screamed as I struggled to get the book. It's Pittacus Lore's I am number four. "I didn't know you loved science fiction," he read the book as I tried to climb up him and snatch the book away from him.

"Carter Evans, don't take advantage of my height," I pouted. "You do love my surname don't you, Hadley Cythera Brooklyn?" a smirk was etched on his lips. "MY SURNAME IS NOT BROOKLYN!" I complained as I struggled to reach the book again.

"Then why does your aunt call you that?" he raised a brow. "Because her name is Brooklyn Brooke! Now give that back!" I put my hands on my hips. He completely ignored me and continued reading my book.

"I'm sorry, Evans, I'm really a nice person but..." he screamed a manly scream as I bit his arm. I laughed at his reaction. "You totally sounded like PewDiePie!" I clutched my stomach. I just love watching his videos. The first time I heard PewDiePie's scream is when I actually wore headphones, and I had the tendency to just throw stuff everywhere.

"FOR GOODNESS' SAKE! Hadley, you left a mark!" he pointed his injured arm. I snatched the book out of his hand. "Smart girls get what they want," I said triumphantly.

"Oh my gosh! She died! She died! Oh my gosh!" I started reacting as I happily read the book. "You really are stubborn..."

I continued reading my book when someone came into scene. "Oh, Asher, what do you need?" I asked. Yes, I'm that nice. I'm a reserved person; I'm only open to people close to me. As usual, Asher and Carter exchanged glares. "Um, I still don't have a partner for the science fair, so, I was thinking if..."

"We're already partners," Carter glared. "What-wait-" actually, I like doing things alone, so I'm not planning to get a partner. "Is he telling the truth?" Asher noticed my reaction. "She is," Carter answered for me. "She's not, is she? I could tell," the tension between their eye contact was getting stronger.

"Actually, guys, I...I like to do things alone, so I'm going to do the science project alone which means that I don't need a partner. So to settle things..." I grabbed Carter then Asher. "You'll be partners."

"LIKE I'D BE PARTNERS WITH THIS BRAT!" Asher said. "THAT'S MY LINE!" Carter argued. "Uhmm...guys..." I started to feel nervous. "Hadley, you're my partner, right?" Carter asked me with puppy eyes. "She said she doesn't need a partner!" Asher said. "You asked her too in the first place!" Carter crossed his arms.

Oh no, this is bad. They think I'm a science genius when I'm not. You know, at the science fair, people struggle to get the nerds as their partners. I'm no nerd or a genius. And now, these two are...

"Hadley, what brains do you expect from this guy?" Asher pointed Carter. And with that, I got infuriated. "Asher, he's my best friend," I said. "Oh, sorry..." Asher apologized while Carter held a smirk.

"I'm sorry for disturbing," he apologized although he glared at Carter. He walked away, and once he was gone, we both sighed. We decided to go home now, since it was getting dark.

And unfortunately, we met Asher along the way. Lucy was with him. "Oh, if it isn't the devil," Asher glared at Carter. "The angel speaks," Carter said sarcastically. And that is how...

 "Carter, stop!"

"I have to get rid of this monster."

"Asher, what the hell has gotten into you?!"
