"What?! You're living with that stupid brat! You shouldn't even hang around near that dangerous creature," Carter smashed his hands against the cafeteria table, gaining stares.
"Shush, Carter! Asher's not a bad person," I crossed my arms. Asher eyes us, and walks over to us. He sits beside me and greets me with a "hey." I respond with a shy wave. As usual, the two exchange glares. I simply roll my eyes at them.
After a few minutes of glaring, one of them speaks up. "So you're living with Hadley," Carter decided to speak normally, like there's no barrier in between them. "Yes. Did I get ahead of you, Carter boy?" Asher mocked him in an indirect way. I could feel them both holding back in furiously punching each other.
I rolled my spaghetti and stuffed it in my mouth as the two continued their staring, or should I say, glaring contest. I could almost imagine laser coming out of their eyes. I sighed, knowing that those two would never stop.
*pinch* *pinch*
"What was that for?!" they both complained. "Tsk, tsk, tsk. It's bad manners to glare," I waved my fingers. They crossed their arms and avoided eye contact. This was some reconciling to do...
I put my arms across their backs and forced them together. "Come on guys, soften up a bit," I beamed. "Never," Carter shook his head. "Like I would," Asher did the same. I raised my hands in defeat. "Okay, you may start having that staring contest again."
I left them alone, which made the atmosphere grow more tense between the two of them. I walked to the water dispenser and got a cup. As I filled it with water, I can't help but...think. I'm currently living with Asher...It was so impossible in my mind.
We used to be complete strangers. We weren't so close, and Carter told me to avoid him because of his 'guts'. Well, I won't judge, but Asher is kinda...scary? Well, what would you expect from him when he always seemed mad? Plus, he had a black tattoo on his ankle. Why did I know? Of course, we lived together and he had to take off his socks.
"Hadley? The water's overflowing," Lucy clapped her hands in front of my face. I snapped back to reality and hurriedly closed the dispenser. I muttered a quick apology and drank the water up. I threw the paper cup in the nearby trash can as I made my way to Carter and Asher.
"So, are you guys finished?" I patted their backs as I took a seat next to Asher. They refused to answer the simple question. I guess the 'silence means yes' saying doesn't work at all times...
"So, how did you end up living with Asher?" I stiffened as Carter asked the question. What should I say? That my aunt raised me up so that she could steal the necklace that has power so I needed to live with him to protect it from danger? No, that wasn't happening.
"Her aunt currently lost her job so she couldn't support Hadley any longer. As soon as she gets a job back and has a stable financial state, Hadley would go back," Ash cleared his throat.
Oh my gosh, you're amazing Ash! I could've never pulled that off!
"And why you, of all people?" Carter crossed his arms. "U-um, it's because his mother's friend is also a friend of my aunt so when my aunt asked her if someone could, uh, handle me temporarily, she referred to Asher's mom because of their financial state," I managed to make that awesome statement too. In your face, Ash!
"I see," was all what Carter said. And with that, the bell rang.

The boring subject was turning more boring, causing me to fall asleep once in a while. I rubbed my eyes, fighting my desire to sleep. Ms. Nana's melodic voice doesn't help. I smashed my head with my hand to awaken myself.
