Scarlet

Everyone is running around, screaming. I'm screaming too, but not in fear.

I saw my sister being carried away by the doctor so I know she will be alright- hopefully. But right now my concern is in another place.

"Araquiel!" I shout as I push past more noble women.

I spot a white haired boy running in the same direction I am. My eyes narrow. Who exactly is he?

I race in front of him and skid to a stop.

"What are you doing?" I demand.

He tries to slide past me but I'm too quick. He glares at me.

"I'm trying to save your friend! Now if you would let me though..." He pushes me and continues running.

I groan and start after him. There is a platter with broken dishes abandoned on the floor, probably dropped by a maid. I bite my lip and hurry on. I finally fall next to the boy as we rush out the already open gate. Araquiel is outside.

Being Araquiel's best friend, I know her favorite place- the Forest. Out of instinct, I grab the boys arm and gesture towards the Forest. He nods in understanding. The thundering of hooves and a swift gust of wind make me stop in my tracks. A knight- but weird. He isn't wearing the four kingdoms armor. Unless he isn't from the four kingdoms.

"Shoot! He's a fake!" I cry.

The boys eyes widen as he realises what's said.

The 'knight' is the killer.

I spot Araquiel and call out to her. "Araquiel! Run faster! Don't trust him!"

The 'knight' catches up to her and pulls out his sword. Araquiel stops in her tracks and faces him. I start to run towards her again, the white haired boy following behind me.

I see Araquiel being picked up by the man on the horse and riding away.

"No! Araquiel!" Tears flow down my face.

"Dang it! I couldn't save her!"

I turn and face the boy. "Who are you?"

He glares at me- again. "I'm His highness, Prince Zeru. Now your highness, may I go after your friend?"

I shake my head. "We need horses. And I need to know your story."

He laughs. "Who said you were coming?"

I place my hands on my hips. "I did. And you can't stop me. You need me if you want to know how to get around the forest Zeru," I purposely don't use his title to spite him. "Based on the fact I haven't heard of you before I would believe you are from a far kingdom. In that case, I'm more knowledgeable in the surrounding area then you are."

His mouth twists into a smirk. "But your highness, I am from one of the surrounding countries. The one 'on top' so to speak."

He points up and I realise what he means.

He is an Angel.
