Araquiel
I take a seat at the table. I pour some vegetables and meat onto my plate and begin to eat. Scar takes a seat next to me and starts twirling her hair around her finger.
"So... My sisters and Laec are coming."
Zeru spots out his food and starts choking. I jump up and start patting his back. I get some water from the trees and make a glass. I melt some of the ice and hand it to Zeru. He quickly gulps it down and sighs. He turns to me and smiles.
"Thank you."
My cheeks flush and I sheepishly reply. "It was nothing. Are you alright now?"
He nods. "Thanks to you."
I run back to my seat and turn back to Scarlet. "So... About our siblings..."
She clears her throat. "Yes, Sloane contacted me and they are coming. They should be here soon since we aren't that far from the-''
She is cut off from the sounds of flapping wings.
"I guess they're here now. Zeru, lower the wind- shield."
He nods twists his hands, lowering our defenses long enough for our family to get through.
I run forward and hug my younger brother. He looks terrible. Bags under his eyes, and he looks like he hasn't eaten in weeks!
"I'm surprised mom and dad actually let you guys out to look for me."
A veil of silence falls upon us as I finish my sentence.
"You did ask them, right?"
Laec clears his throat uncomfortably. "Well... No. We snuck out."
I release him from my tight embrace and hit him upside the head.
"Ouch! What was that for?"
"For being stupid." I turn to the triplets. "I can't exactly get mad at Scarlet since she is the same age as you, but why didn't you ask them if they had permission?"
She blushes. "I just assumed..."
"Oh for crying out loud! We've come to help and your acting like we are running to our deaths."
"You just might be."
Zeru steps out from behind me and everybody turns to face him.
"What do you mean?" Laec questions him.
"The person who is after Araquiel is still out there. At least one of them."
"One of them? Meaning there were more?!"
"Two." I cut in.
"It was for money." Scar explains.
"Then we need to catch them!" Laec turns around and starts walking to the edge of the campsite.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Where do you think you're going?"
Laec turns towards me with surprise written all over his face. "To... Find the guy?"
"I'm not done with you yet." His shoulders slump and he returns to me. "Why shouldn't I return you to the palace this instant?"
"Because you would set the entire nation in danger because of a psycho or some psychos you want you dead and will hurt anyone to get to you?"
Zeru turns to me. "He's good."
I nod. "But there are others."
"But except for you and Prince Zeru, I don't have to obey anyone here. No offense Scarlet."
"Uh... Okay?"
"Laec." I groan.
"Araquiel." He mocks.
"Ugh! Fine, you can stay and help me track down the man. But, you owe me once we get back home. Deal?"
He shakes my hand. "Deal."
Zeru enters the conversation again. "Then after dinner, we should hit the hay so we can explore tomorrow. A word of advise. The people we are stalking are stalking us too. Don't get to comfortable anywhere."
With that, we were dismissed to finish our meals and sleep.
