I didn't have much to pack so when I finished, I was the first one in the garage with Jorge. As soon as I stepped in, I understood what Bertha was. It was Marcus' truck. An actual running car. I remember seeing it when I was a kid and Marcus had met us. Even though I didn't talk to Marcus at all, Andy sure did. He taught my brother to fix it up and give it gas, basically to care for it like a baby.

Jorge lifted the hood and looked at the engine as I walked up.

"How's it looking, amo?" I asked him.

He looked at me and smiled when I called him Amo. That told him that we were alright. I rolled my eyes and smiled as he kept looking at me.

"It's good. In good shape." Jorge said, looking back at the engine. "I think it needs gas though."

"You can't get that from looking there, Jorge. Where are the keys?" I asked.

Jorge tossed them to me and I caught them before slipping into the front seat and sticking the key into the ignition. I turned it and listened to the car struggle to start for a minute before the engine got going. I looked at the gas meter to see it was full. Tossing my bag into the back seat, I closed the front door and looked at Jorge.

"It's good."

"How did you know to do that?" He asked, closing the hood.

"How did you not know?" I smirked and pull my hair back into its ponytail.

Jorge chuckled and got in the front seat. Everyone started to pile into the garage and everyone but Brenda looked at the truck as if it were a magic school bus. I smiled and opened the door for everyone to get in. "All aboard!"

Frypan jumped in without hesitation, with Newt at his heels. Then Teresa and Thomas, and Brenda got into the front seat. Minho walked up to me and looked at the truck nervously.

"Is this thing safe?"

"With Jorge driving, you'll be as safe as can be." I told him.

He nodded and pecked my lips before quickly getting in.

"What was that for?" I asked, getting in.

"Just in case I die."

I laughed and shook my head before slamming the door closed.

I had never been in the truck, I only knew of them from Andy. But I was just excited as Newt as we drove through the desert. He smiled the entire time but Minho still looked nervous. Everyone had an expression that I could read. All except Teresa. Her face was stone cold hard, probably the way I looked when they met me.

But for her it was weird. Something wasn't right and the feeling had only grown since last time. I didn't want to confront her just in case, and Thomas looked like he really did trust her more than anything. I didn't want to put that in jeopardy. They all lost a lot already.

We hit a bump and Minho quickly grabbed my hand, taking deep breath. I intertwined our fingers and watched as he started to calm down. It was a long ride. One that I wasn't sure Minho would survive, but he did.

We drove for a few hours, I wasn't really paying attention, but we had to stop after awhile from a car buildup on the mountain. Jorge stopped the truck and we got out to investigate.

"What do you think happened?" I asked him.

"Probably from when the flare first hit."Jorge said.

"We can't pass with the truck." I said.

"Then we go on foot." Jorge said.

I nodded and turned around to make sure everyone was with us. I grabbed my bag and strung it over my shoulder before taking a second look at everyone. When I caught Brenda, she looked sick. Really sick. I wrapped her arm around my neck and helped her as we started walking.
