What happened next ?

Later that year

As the weeks went on without Georg , I hired a housemaid because we couldn't keep on top of all of our work.

Cleaning the kitchen floor I felt dizzy but I thought it was because I was tired, I was only tired because Gretl couldn't sleep at night and she kept crawling into my bed because she misses her father.

I kept scrubbing the floor until suddenly I collapsed, I heard liesel shouting "mother, mother are you okay" .
I felt hands underneath me and then I was lying on a lying on a cloud.

I woke up and there was a doctor Stood beside me . I gazed at him and he said "Maria, your pregnant" "what " I mumbled , he started packing up his bag and left the room , Liesel then came in and stood beside me "I'm pregnant " I said
"Wow" said liesel , I could tell that she was excited. After all the children had been told they were all full of excitement and they stared to think of puppets shows that they would make to show the baby !

A couple of months later

All excitement flew around the villa until December came, we had hoped this Georg would be back by November as the children decorated the chirstmas tree I went upstairs to my room and prayed that Georg would be back for Christmas and to see his dear little baby born as it was due any week soon!

The day before Christmas Eve a telegram was delivered , it looked important so I tore it open and to my shock it said Georg's ship had sunk the day before and that there was no record of anyone surviving . I collapsed on the floor crying my heart out . Kurt came running and sat down beside me and read the telegram and started crying too. Everyone went in to mourning even little Gretl who didn't have a clue what we were crying about...
