Chapter 4: Where the Fault Lies
When she heard the front door slam she let a long deep breath and plopped into her seat.
“Oh Elliot maybe she’s right am I really making things worse, I mean this can’t be helping. I mean we’ve made some progress, but....but...” she let out a depressed wail “I...I.. miss Olivia!”
“Its okay Alex we all have moments off weakness, but you have had the best psychiatrists in all of New York analyze her brain and they all say the best thing right now is to just treat her like we are, I mean for god damn sake you think I don’t get frustrated sometimes. When I took her to the Yankees game the other day it took about 20 minuets of coaxing to get her to understand that she was going to have to go into the ladies room by herself.”
“Well as long as you feel the same way, can you take her to Huang’s tomorrow for therapy and I think it would be good maybe if you could drag Casey along too she really needs to see what Livia wen’t through before to understand why we treat her the way we do now.”
“Yah that sounds good, I’ll talk to her. See you tomorrow.” Elliot walked out the door. Alex rubbed her temples and sat back down. What she really needed was to relax and get a grip on things. She stood and walked into her bedroom where Mitsuri had begun to draw Livia’s bath,
“Mitsuri I’ll take it from here.”
“All right I’ll be in my room if you need anything.” Mitsuri replied
“Thank you” Alex turned around to face Livia she was faintly staring out the window, she knew that Livia had heard what they said.
“Livia precious are you ready for your bath.”
“Yes, Mrs. Alex”. She stepped forward and Alex began to undress her. She loved looking at Livia’s naked caramel skin, her thin shoulders and chest. It had been three years since they had found Livia but every time Alex looked at Livia’s bruised scared back she couldn’t help letting out a small gasp. She found it especially hard to look at the bar code that was tattooed onto the back of Livia’s Neck. All the things they did to her, that they made her do, she herself sometimes got nightmares from it, and she could only imagine what Livia could be going through. She dried Livia off and put on her pajamas and sat her on the bed. She loved it when she could brush Livia’s thick gorgeous olive colored hair.
“Livia honey are you all right, a lot happened tonight?” Alex whispered.
“Yah I guess so, but I don’t think that lady really likes me.”
“ Oh no, honey she does she.. she’s just worried because you’ve changed a lot since she’s seen you last.”
“I know but I guess I just wish people would except me for who I am...now.”
“ Me to baby, me too......” and with that Alex tucked Olivia in to bed and drifted into a peaceful slumber.
