My life sucks. It's not your typical bad life. No, it really, truly, honestly sucks.
My live-in boyfriend is crazy. His name is Chris. Chris scares me and everyone who truly knows him. He goes nuts and hits me if his spaghetti isn't cooked right. I seriously think that one day he'll wake up and decide to get rid of me. He definitely has the strength and height advantage. He even has the law on his side.
We live in a really tiny town. Chris' hometown. Everyone knows him here, but no one knows the real Christopher Betton.
Every person in this hell-hole thinks Chris is a sweet, considerate, and loving guy. Even I thought he was. That was when we first started dating. Then, I moved in. That's when things started their downhill spiral.
I'd started to notice things. At first it was small things, then he'd calm down and apologize. Then he started to get mad about things that no one else would have ever notice unless they were specifically looking for them.
It has now been two years since I moved in, three since I met him. Now Chris doesn't even calm down anymore. He just keeps on yelling and beating. Every time he does, it tears away my patience and self-respect for staying with this loser for so long.
I've tried to get away six times. He always seems to find me. His best friend is the sheriff, so every time I run Chris calls his pal and I get pulled over before I reach the city limits.
But now I have a plan.
I got a call about a week ago from a record label asking me if I would send in a demo. I f they liked it, I would get signed and go to Maine. Before long I'll be famous. And best of all, I'd be far out of reach of Christopher Betton.

"Sarah, get me a beer! The game's about to start!" Chris yells from the living room. "Get Mack one while you're at it!" Mack is the sheriff, best friend of Chris, worst enemy of all criminals that come to this town, and me, Sarah McKenzie. "Hurry it up!" He calls.
I go to the fridge and see only one bottle. "Chris, there's only one in here. I need to go to the market. I need ten bucks." I say walking in, careful not to step in front of the TV. He grumbles as he ulls out his wallet. He motions me over and I hold out my hand. He hands me $20.
Before I can ask, he opens his mouth, "Get some chips while you're out. Or something else that we can snack on. And a lottery ticket. Get something for yourself too." Chris says never looking at me. Mack on the other hand is watching me like a hawk. Probably trying to see if this is a trick to be able to get out of town. "Gee, thanks." I say trying not to sound sarcastic.
Chris looks at me with a look that says, I will deal with you later. I get out as fast as I can because I know that soon he will make good on his promise.
"What took you so long? The game started 20 minutes ago." Chris states. "I had to decide what to get you guys since there really was no specifics. I got you Pizza Rolls and buffalo wings by the way." I tell them.
They both look at me with shock that I even actually got something besides the beer and chips. I give Chris the change and the receipt when he holds his hand out. "This says that you got ice cream?" I nod. "You said that I could get something for myself so I did. Enjoy the game. The rest of the beer is i the fridge if you guys want it. I'm going to watch some rom-coms in the bedroom."
I exit the room and hope that with my kindness Chris forgets my earlier sarcasm.

Hello again my carrot patch! It's Alyssa! I'm sorry that it's been so long since I last posted a story, but I've been very busy lately. This story is my latest and I am very pleased with it so far.
This is not a fanfiction because I'm trying to widen my capabilities. One of my friends and I came up with this concept...she's kind of a genius. tullis2storyteller is a fantastic writer and you guys should check her out. She has two books that she's writing now and they are pretty fantastic.
Okay, so that's it for this rant. Until next time my carrot patch! Enjoy!
