Chapter 1
"C'mere sweetie I have some nice, sweet, scrumptious, doughnuts for you," said the old lady in a dress made 100% of licorice. I was in a dark room, and the only light source was from above that was focusing on me and this strange old lady.
"Oh my dear pancakes, can I eat your dress too!?" I exclaimed, with pure excitement. Sweets were really my thing, it was something I couldn't live without. Just the thought of the savoring taste of the textured red treat in my mouth, made my mouth water.
"Sure honey! And while you're at it can you eat my purse too?" the strange woman looked rather familiar, when her expression changed into a pleasant warm one. I nodded excitedly, my mind processing so many sweet images of treats. I was on the stage, where I'm about to go bonkers!
After finishing her dress and purse, I didn't think that I would see what I thought I would see but...there was nothing there! I was shocked, fear engulfing me. I ran, tripping into a river of blueberry flavored Kool Aid as I scattered away. The river suddenly started spinning around, turning in a circular motion whirlpool.
“Ahhh!” I screamed at the top of my lungs, thinking it was finally the end of the world for me. I grabbed a clump of colored strings that were coming out of a tree, and started flying on the spur of the moment. The colored strings turned out to be strings for a bunch of colorful balloons! I looked back at the tree that I seized them out of, and the whole tree became covered with the helium circles.A balloon tree, I thought, thoroughly amazed.
Lost in astonishment of its beauty, I didn’t notice the balloons popping one by one. I started descending from the sky slowly, feet gently reaching the candy ground safely. When my toes touched the hard sweet caramel I noticed it was shaking loudly, the sound becoming deafening as is something or someone was approaching me from behind. I spun around to see a incredibly gigantic creature heading towards me. The head of the monster was blurry, his humongous frame still hundreds of feet away.
As it came closer, the face of the horrifying thing became surprisingly familiar. When the thing was close enough for me to identify its appalling features, I was shocked, fear gripping me when I noticed the gruesome animal had the head of my annoying older brother and a body resembling a giant ogre. It stopped and dropped his chin, eyes looking menacing he fixed his eyes to my level, so we could see each other. I was expecting a roar, when it opened its mouth but it suddenly....
“Beep! Beep! Beep...” Was all that came out of the creature. What the jalapenos was that?!
I thought, everything suddenly turned black as I fell into a abyss of darkness.
The alarm clock blared in my ears, damaging my ear drums. I raised a arm to turn off the piercing noise, lazily lifting myself from my bed, and started stretching. I yawned one last time and stood up to get ready for school.
Nonchalant, I walked straight to my closet, randomly choosing a outfit to wear for the day. Walking into my closet I grabbed the black and white shirt dress that I recently bought. Loving the fact it reminded me of a memory of when I was young.
Good times...good times. I thought and chuckled. I smiled and slipped on the dress, adding white knee-length leggings with it, then headed to my bathroom.
Sighing, I looked in the mirror as I quickly brushed my teeth and loosely put my light brown hair in a braid while combing out its tangles. As soon as I finished and had left the bathroom, I noticed my brother was already prepared to go downstairs. He smirked at me, told me something using his eyes and started moving slowly, his pace getting faster as he went through the long narrow hallway of our house...
I raced my brother Noah down our long stairs, out of breath when we reached the end of the hall. He won by a long run, since he is very athletic. Being the mature brother he was, he laughed at my face. I mumbled an ideal comeback to his remark, but went towards the kitchen in a horrid mood. I ate cereal & pancakes, while Noah was scarfed down on his waffles. I looked at him with distaste. I'm ashamed, he eats like a pig in a mud bath with 'tasty' slop, I thought. Ugh... disgusting.
“Don’t you ever stop and actually chew your food?” I said annoyed by his loud wolfing noises.
“Nah, nobody’s here that cares,” he said continuing his breakfast, expressing as if I don't actually concern him.
“What about me?!” I said offended by his childish remark, “ And what about the grimlands that roam around here?” He replied, making loud snorting noises while he was cracking up. I smiled mischievously as I witnessed what he had just done.
“Ah! I knew you were a pig!” I exclaimed, filled with hope that I was right, though I was already aware of the answer.
“Ah! I knew you were crazy,” he mocked me and paused, then added, “ and mental!”
I stuck my tongue at him and muttered “A fat pig called me crazy...” loud enough so he could hear.
"How about that?" he said. I ignored him and continued chewing my delectable breakfast, pancakes and sausages. It was simply delicious!
While sitting and eating my breakfast with my horrible excuse of a brother, the doorbell rang. I immediately knew who it was, my best friend Julie. Of course, she was the opposite of me. Perfect, beautiful, smart, popular. Unlike the ugly, dumb, anti-social, me...
She has only one flaw though, her tendency to forget everything that comes out of her mouth. But that's a good thing, ‘cause you can't be human without making mistakes. Nobody is perfect. Unless, of course you are some super ninja or an...ALIEN.
I grabbed my things and left without a goodbye to my brother. Forgetting about my parents, since their work requires them to arrive early to their jobs. Julie and I left the house, deciding to walk to school instead of taking the bus. Side by side we began talking about numerous things.
"So, what'd you do with your grandparents yesterday?" I asked curiously, wanting to know if she had a good time with them or not. Her grandparents are pretty much total psychopaths, but very entertaining.
Julie grinned mischievously, and laughed "Well, my adorable whale of a grandpa did a cannon ball into the pool, and managed to sweep everything out of the filter in the process."
I smiled thoughtfully and laughed with her. "At least he didn't throw your grandma's lady pants out of the window again..."
"Yeah! I remember that, they fell into the pond... And then she beat gramps with her old cane!" We were full out laughing now, forcing ourselves to decrease it so we could at least walk unhurriedly.
But then the smile slid off my face, and Julie stopped laughing. I looked at her inquisitively, wondering why she had stopped. My eyes trailed towards the direction she was looking at. We had arrived at our final destination.
School. Where crazy monkeys roam and eat bananas...
