Wall Street (Chpt 1)

The cool autumn breeze blew through my hair as I strolled down Wall Street. I was approaching my turn to go into the Merrill Lynch firm when my phone started buzzing in my pocket. A familiar number was being displayed on the screen.

My skin crawled at the sight of his name. What happened with us was still unbelievable. Everything that happened that one winter day, everything just changed in what seemed like an instant. My finger slid over the red button as I took a deep breath and headed towards the firm.

"Welcome Mrs. Kally," the doorman politely opened the humongous glass door. The marble lobby was more crowded than normal. I squeezed through the mobs of people until I reached the main elevator. The security greeted me like normal as the thick and slick stainless steel doors opened, inviting me in.

Laura informed me that Joshua was in a meeting as I approached the reception desk. "It will be about ten minutes" she smiled as if she was genuinely happy but you could see the pain in her eyes.

I took a seat on a comfy black chair parallel of the meeting room. Not even five minutes passed when Joshua walked out of the meeting room, his face had annoyed written all over it. "Hey, honey" I tried to do my nicest wife voice ever.

"Not the time dear," he sighed. "We are losing about half of our clients because of this news article that was released yesterday. It's more vicious than two teenage girls fighting over a guy" he started storming to the elevator, but all I could do was laugh.
