It was a dark and gloomy day, the clouds overshadowed the sky while they cried tears of rain. The soft pitter patter of the rain was all that could be heard throughout the street. The streets were like a ghosts town, except for the soft screech that could be heard at the park. There sat, in the abandoned park, gently swinging to the wind was a young girl. Her hair was midnight black while her skin was as pale as the moon. Her hair cascaded down her back, some gently falling to shield her eyes. Rain gently drizzled down her cheeks as her eyes looked blankly ahead.
"You know you'll catch your death out here?" A voice whispered next to her. Her eyes glided over to the tall man standing behind her. His hair, black like coal and eyes like soulless pits. "What's wrong sis?" He asked, and yet she refused to answer. His eyes darkened, danger lurking within them. "Was it those bastards at school again?" he growled. The girl let out a shaky nod, it was always them.
Everyday, they traumatised her, humiliated her and beat her. She often thought about what it would be like if the roles were reversed, if she had the power, if they were the weak ones... Warmth surrounded her hand as her brother held onto her hand tightly. He knew exactly what she was going through, after all he went through it too. "What did they do this time Ellie?" He asked, patiently awaiting her answer. She hesitated for a few seconds before letting out a shaky whisper, "they threw rocks at me and said I should go kill myself and die in a hole"... A few small tears escaped her eyes as she tightly engulfed her brothers hand more tightly. "Just ignore them Ellie, they're not worth it" he said, however his mind was plagued with dark thoughts, 'how dare they tell my sister to go die in a hole, those good for nothing bastards!'
"Yeah...I suppose you're right Evan" she whispered. Evan gazed over to his sister, unaware of the dangerous thoughts running through her head. 'Maybe they're right, maybe I'm better off dead'. Evan gently slid off his jacket, wrapped it around Ellie's shoulders and held out his hand to her.
"Come on Elle, we should probably get home before we get the belt" . Ellie grasped his hand and stood up. The rain gently falling over them. As the twins slowly started walking away, Evan wrapped a protective arm around his sister.'I'll protect you Ellie, it's you and me against the world'.
