Yesterday's lunch was pretty fun. I found out from Jeremy that Kevin doesn't have a girlfriend. So it wasn't all too bad. I told Jeremy everything, how I have a huge crush on Kevin and why I was upset. Jeremy told me if I ever need anything I could come to him. That really helped me with my whole day. However, today was definitely a day that i was dreading. Dawn had told the guys my birthday was today. I'm completely not prepared if they do something weird.
I didn't meet Dawn at our normal spot, I took a different route. As I was approaching my locker, I saw Dawn waiting for me at her locker, a few feet away from mine. I shrieked quietly and tried to sneak away. I was almost passed her when she pulled my bag strap and made me fly into the lockers. "Are you trying to run from me?" I chuckled and breathed out. I sighed as I looked towards the bottom of her locker, which had colorful string hanging out.
As soon as she opened her locker, the guys turned the corner towards us. There sat in Kevin's hand was a cupcake with one candle in the middle of it. "You really don't have to do anything. I'm more used to nothing happening on my birthday." I told Dawn, covering my face with my hands. "That's exactly why I'm doing this. By the time today is over, everyone would have said happy birthday to you." In that instant, they all started singing 'happy birthday' in perfect harmony. As soon as I blew out my candle, they all passed me a gift except for Kevin. "No, no, no. You are not allowed to look at presents until tonight." Kevin said, grabbing all the gifts. "Wait, what's happening tonight?" "Don't worry, just wear something cute." Cute? Tonight? What's going on?
Throughout my classes before lunch, all I could think about was what was happening tonight. How could Kevin say something like that and expect me not to worry about it? It was already lunch time and I decided to figure out what's going on. I finally caught Kevin sitting at a table waiting for the guys. Making my move, I'd come so close to just turn around and just wait but I kept walking towards him. "Kevin! Okay it's been bothering me all day. I demand to know what the hell is going on tonight?" He just laughed as I kept the seriousness plastered on my face. "Charlotte, I've already told you, don't worry about it. Dawn will come get you and take you to my place. Just remember to look pretty."
I was totally confused. I knew it could most likely be a small get together with the boys, but would they go far enough throw a big party? Kevin had also said to wear something cute. What the hell is cute in his opinion? Better question, why the hell am I worrying so much about this party? Or whatever it truly was. Why can't I just be happy I'm actually celebrating my birthday?
I've spent almost almost two hours, which is how long I've been home, trying to decide what to wear. I mean, I really don't have dresses or skirts in my closet. I'd rather stick with ripped jeans and a loosely fitted band tee. I know I only have one pair of heels and probably the rest of my shoes were Vans. I'm not too great on fashion.
Finally, I've just given up trying to find something cute enough for Kevin. Well, not just Kevin, I mean, I could be trying to look cute for... Jeremy or Alex. It's not all about Kevin. Charlotte, I think you've gone insane. I thought to myself. As I sat on my bed, I heard my front door open. "Alright Cee, you ready to..." Dawn had come upstairs to my room. She sighed seeing me not even ready. Dawn had on a tight teal dress. The dress only went over one shoulder, and went down to her mid-thigh. Her makeup matched the color of her dress and she did look pretty. Maybe she looks more prettier than I was supposed to be on my own birthday.
It's been about thirty minutes of us looking at this one dress. I've never worn it before and I didn't see it when I was looking in my closet. I guess it's just a habit to pass dresses when looking for something to wear. This dress was strapless, and flowed to the bottom, which went down to my knees. The dress was a mint green color, and the top was black, so luckily the pair of heels I had were black. Dawn had pretty much fixed my makeup to match my dress.
By now, we were ready and she rushed me into the car before I could even get my shoes on. "Are you ready? Let's go we're supposed to be here by seven o'clock." I just rolled my eyes. "Dawn, it is seven. We're right on time." I was nervous to ring the doorbell. I didn't know if Kevin would like my outfit or if I'd even have a good time. I heard talking in the door and as soon as Dawn hit the doorbell, Josh came to open the door for us. "Why thank you kind sir." I giggled as I gave him a quick hug. Josh had on a navy blue button down shirt with black pants.
Josh led us to the living room where we came across four other well dressed men. As soon as I entered the room, my eyes automatically flickered to Kevin. I almost gasped at the sight of how nice or even pretty he looked. He had on a red plaid shirt, and anyone who knows me, knows I'm a complete sucker for guys in plaid shirts. I started to notice I was staring way too long. I had to force my eyes to look somewhere else. I looked toward Dawn, who was having a conversation with Neil. Neil didn't look half bad himself, with his light blue button down shirt and black pants. I had to admit he cleans up well. Jeremy then came up to me to put his arm around my shoulder. "Charlotte, you look really pretty tonight." I blushed and gave him a hug, right before Kevin could steal me away. "Are you kidding? She looks perfect." I didn't know what to do. I told him thanks and walked towards Alex. "Can't we just agree both these lovely ladies look absolutely gorgeous?" Alex said as I followed him to the kitchen. I grabbed a cup to pour myself some water. "Need any help?" I jumped as Kevin scared my half to death. "Give a girl some warning next time!" He laughed, grabbing my cup. "And no thanks. I'm kinda capable of pouring myself some water."
I heard noises in the other room as Kevin and I walked back to the living room. "SURPRISE!" So many people were now standing in Kevin's living room. The water that was in my mouth was now on my face and the floor. I pretty much spit it all out. Jeremy's face was hilarious though since he kinda got spit in the face. That wasn't even my fault.
Music started playing and everyone started dancing. Lots of kids from my school were here, even the jock that knocked me down but instead of being with the scrawny blond, he was with some other chick. With all this happening, I just sat on one of the couches. I wasn't much of party girl so I just watched the other people dance.
"You're not having fun, I can tell." Kevin said sitting next to me. "No, I am, don't worry, I'm just not used to this." I never thought someone would throw me a big party like this. I'm not into big parties but it was still sweet for them to throw me one. "I'm sorry, we just thought you shouldn't be alone for your birthday once again." Kevin said. I thought that was incredibly sweet. "Thank you Kevin. I'm glad I was at least with you guys." He rubbed the back of his neck. I decided to thank him a better way. I turned my head and gave him a kiss on the cheek. "Thank you."
I got up and walked to Dawn. Apparently, my face was extremely red, because Dawn looked at me funny. "Either you really have to pee or you're holding something in, spill it." I exhaled slowly. "I just kissed Kevin on the cheek." I felt the blood rush to my face once again and she gasped. "The shy kitty has finally popped out her litter box! I've been waiting for this! Come on, let's get going." Dawn said as Kevin's house was finally empty.
I said goodbye to all the guys and as I was leaving, I felt a hand grab mine. They pulled me back into their chest and as I looked up, Kevin smiled at me. "Goodnight Charlotte." Kevin placed two fingers under my chin, lifted my face and placed his lips upon mine. My eyes widened then closed as I pushed my face against his. I never thought I could be happier in my entire life.
