Ever since, I have never believed in things like fate or destiny. For me, things happen for a reason just because it does. No other explanation. But when I saw him once again, my thoughts may be proven wrong after all.
Fate is playing a dirty trick on me.
A very cruel one, I may add.
People are still fussing over the new transfer student. I, on the other hand, still look at him dumbfounded. I’m still in the process of accepting that he is indeed in my class. Or I might be dreaming after all. I mean there’s no freakin’ way that the stranger I’ve met yesterday and the one who has been pestering my mind all day would be standing in my classroom right now.
But he is and his name is Daniel.
My daydreaming was interrupted when I realized he was sitting beside me. Yes, beside me! I blinked a few times. Gosh, I’m acting like a weirdo. A very creepy weirdo...
I mean why would he sit beside me? Could it be that he remembers our encounter? No way, it was only one time and there was rain and we looked at each other’s eyes and I ran so there’s no way he would recognize me or he might be thinking about me too?
My mind was flooded with different ideas. I was panicking big time when someone tapped on my shoulder.
“NO, I WASN’T LOOKING AT YOU!” I screamed.
By this time, the room became silent and everyone erupted in laughter. The realization slowly sinks in and the embarrassment was too much to bear. I’m pretty sure I look like a tomato by now.
Kill me now.
“Nami! You should have seen your face, Priceless! What are you thinking about anyway?” Asher chuckled
Definitely not the new transfer student. My inner mind protested.
“None of your business” I glared at him. He is obviously the one who made me burst out like that.
“Chill baby girl! If you want to look at me, all you have to do is ask” He replied while smirking
I pinched him hard then kick his leg. Payback is a bitch.
“Ouch! You, violent woman!” He gasped
“Jerks deserved that” I countered while grinning
“I am not a jerk. I’m a hottie” He replied cheekily
I rolled my eyes. If he wasn’t my best friend, I would have slapped him in the face. But I know the real Asher, even if he is playing around with different girls. Not one has complained to him. He is a good guy deep down. Womanizing is just another side to him.
Suddenly, Daniel stood up and left the room in a hurry. He was wearing his headphones which seem to signify that he doesn’t want to talk to anyone. He passed by everyone without a glance. The mysterious man who stirred a storm left like breeze.
My curiosity was killing me. I wanted to get to know him. I just didn’t have the confidence to do so. My friends and I went to the cafeteria and as we entered, my eyes were searching for only one person. Immediately, I noticed Daniel eating by himself on the corner. I gathered up my courage and walked towards his table. My hands were becoming sweaty and there was no denying the anxiousness I’m feeling.
He looked up and seemed completely surprised to see me standing there. I gulped. The silence was awkward and the words can’t seem to get out of my mouth. I’m pretty sure I look like an idiot right now. Good thing, Asher popped out of nowhere and broke the deafening silence. He started introducing his self to Daniel and I did the same.
While they were talking, I can feel his glance at me. I felt very self-conscious. I’m an emotional wreck when I encounter him that it pisses me off.
“Hey Daniel, do you mind if we sit here with you?” Asher asked.
“Yeah sure” He replied
Asher then told Daniel different stories. Moments later, they seem to have developed a bond or “bromance.” Daniel would laugh every now and then and I can’t help but notice how cute his smile is. Facepalm, I am in deep trouble. My inner mind was in constant battle while my heart seems to tell otherwise. Crap, crap.
Am I having a crush? No! No! Just plain curiosity, I scolded myself.
When break was over, we came back to our classroom. Again, we are sitting beside each other. I sneakily tried to glance at him. He was leaning on the desk, his eyes closed and he seemed to be asleep. He looked peaceful, almost angelic. His eyelashes were long and his lips looked so soft. He really is attractive. No wonder the girls made a fuss around him.
I was startled when out of nowhere, he spoke. Nadine...
The way he said that name sounded so full of love and affection.
Who the heck was Nadine? His girlfriend? Sister? Friend?
I never realized that I was also leaning on the desk while looking at him. He opened his eyes and I was caught off guard that I didn’t get the chance to look away. We looked at each other’s eyes for a moment. He didn't say anything; he just kept on looking at my face. I felt my cheeks burned and I jerk my head to the side.
This guy was driving me nuts.
And for some odd reason, I think I might be a little attracted to him.
