Good luck. I play those words over and over in my mind. Good luck. Good luck. I don't get it what does it mean? As I question what it means my mom and brother are in the door way crying." Why did you have to do that?"my mother asks. I called her mother bc it seems like the right time to do so.
"I don't know, I was crying over...Sss...,"my voice trails off and I can't find the courage to say his name bc I know that I'll burst into tears. Then all of a sudden the phone rings, my mom picks it up and her face instantly drains from color. Tears form in her eyes, her jaw drops. Then she drops the phone on the ground. She looks at me and says "We're going to the hospital."
When I get into the car I start screaming at her, yelling who was that or what happened. But she doesn't respond , she acts very calm never showing emotions.
When we arrive at the hospital (again) I get out of the car with a loud slam. At this point I'm already about to break the windshield. I mean after all that's happened, moving,Vallery, my nose, Kevin, and my mom not telling me what happened. I feel someone grab my wrists I turn around to see its my mom. "What happend,"I ask." My boss called and told me that I'm fired. Our store is going out of business." She says on the edge of tears.
Great I think in my head. "Now this means that we are probably gonna be broke soon and that means that I'll have to get a job but that won't cover enough money so we will have to move and I'll go to a new school and kids will make fun of me like Valery and my world will end!!!"
"NO! Claire none of that is going to happen, yes you will get a job but I'll have one too. And we aren't going to move. Sweety I know your scared,I am too but we are a family and we can pull together and be one."
After she says this I'm calm and hug her like I'm never letting go."Mom, why did you say good luck in the doorway?"i ask. "I said it bc your seventeen your almost going into college. You have your whole life ahead of you, and if you want to be successful you need to know how to handle situations. I was going to let you fix things with Kevin but then I resized that your growing up to fast and a mother always has to help her kids. Honey I love you so much. Now let's get your hand and foot fixed up."
