It was late May, the air was rushing in and out of the open windows. Sitting in the middle of the living room of my sister and I's suite. Bare in a short white dress I was shivering, but hadn't bothered to close the windows. I felt cold and numb. I wanted to feel it emotionally rather than my physical state, though. My life had been torn to pieces with out a hesitation. I had become the very thing that I had feared.
The night it started was a painful one. Deep in memory, but a strong wish to forget. Laying in my bed at the age of seventeen, peaceful and happy about everything occurring in life, I was innocent to the changes that occurred in me. I had just gotten home from a night with friends. I remembered it as if it all happened a few moments ago...
My silver heart pendant moved with my chest as I laughed with my fraternal twin sister, Day, and our friends. The night air was calm and warm so we decided to hang out on the back padio. Expensively adorned with chrome paneled couches, lined with silk, and elegantly carved, marble tables, it was a dead ringer that Elliot and his family had more money than they knew what to do with. Elliot Fells was a noctorious player and a good looking one at that. Short tempered and brute forced he could get any girl looking for the classic dangerous and sexy look. Leslie, a beach blonde who was typically the stereo type head cheerleader. Sitting all smiles and giggles she was perched up Elliot's lap like a trophy wife and trophy husband. They look they had just stepped of a couples photoshoot for Fitch. Long story short Leslie hates me and my sister. Then there's Zach, my boyfriend, who was so understanding, caring, and loyal. Zach Divelle, the lovable football player who loves me, only for me to love him back. At that time I was happy and in love.
"Okay guys, THIS is UNEXCEPTABLE, us sitting out here like effing bores. I say we take a midnight swim." Wen replied to us hanging around the granite fire pit placed in the middle of couches, when to the opposite of us was a large elegant pool equipped with three fountains set in the middle. Wen Dawson, our comedian. Wen was always a cheer up when you had a bad day. Even if it came to one of the worst. Other than than he was always cracking a joke and producing laughs.
"Wen, some of us have our hair to keep perfect", retorted Leslie. "Get a life, Leslie", commented Day sipping on a glass of club soda. "A real lady keeps her etiquette and image", she shot back. I laughed and slipped my navy silk dress off. "NIGHT!!!", Day scolded at me. I simply laughed and replied, "Relax Day, I still have my swim suit from practice." I gestured toward my bleach white bikini standing against my tanned body that was required once summer came in to town. I smiled and laughed. Diving in to the water before Day could say any more. Her frowning face turning in to a smile and she took off her dress revealing a red tankini jumped in behind me. We had all been at the beach hours before and still had on our bathing suits, so it wasn't long until Wen, Zach, and Elliot tore off their clothes and jumped in. Leaving an unhappy Leslie sitting by her self on the edge of the pool, we were all having fun in the heated pool not worrying about a chill. Wen and I flicked water at a laughing Zach, while he tried to block the water. He dove in and picked me up from under. With my arms clasped around his neck, legs around his waist, his strong arms holding me up, I felt like the luckiest girl in the world. My blue eyes staring intently in to his green eyes. His eyes were that kind of cold glassy green you'd find like the colors of a crystal, beautiful and trancing. My lips instinctively touched his and I smiled through the kiss. "Crap, Night, we've got to go", said Day. I broke the kiss and looked at her with confusion. She franticly wrung out the water in her light brown hair, and swiped her forehead of the light drips of water. "We missed curfew, Sloan's going to have a bitch fit!" I let out a small whine, and let go of Zach. "I'll call you later", he said pecking me on the lips. "If I'm not dead", I smiled back at him. He chuckled, and kissed my forehead. At a seconds notice Day and I were running to car. I grabbed the keys from my jacket pocket, and tossed the keys over head to Day. She caught them in her hand without looking and started to car engine. Her red hybrid prius purred and we sped down the lane to get home. It was already three in the morning and considering our curfew was twelve we were more than a few minutes late. "You do realize if Sloan got out of work early, we're beyond dead", said Day absentmindly. "I know", I replied as an image of our older sister throwing a bitch fit at us in her sheep print shorts and purple tank top waving her fork in the air at us while taking random moments to stab the fruit salad in the bowl she's holding.
