"Hello, is Zac there?" I asked timidly into the phone?
"Yeah just a second, I'll go get him for you," Mrs.Beasley said kindly back. She set down the phone rather noisely and yelled for ZAc, I giggled a little.
"Hello?" It was Zac panting, I guessed he ran to the phone.
"Hey, I was wondering if you and Nick wanted to come to my house for night games? say around eight?" I asked, I had a feeling he was going to say no, lately he had been to cool to hang out with the neighborhood kids.
"Yeah, sure," I was surprised."You don't mind if we bring our friends that are over do you?" there was a hint of amusement in his voice which made me wonder who his friends were. I agreed and we hung up. I finished calling everyone else and then headed out side to clean up the yard.
I ran around the yard moving hoses and sprinklers out of the way, and anything else that was a potential health hazard. When I was nearly finished Kids started arriving and I told them we could play on the swingset until Everyone else came. I finished up the Yard and ran to hangout with every one else. I perched myself on the top of the monkey bars, jokingly prying people's fingers off the bars when they tried to cross. After ten minutes everyone was there except the Beasley's.
"I should've known they would totally stand us up," I pouted childishly."They never come."
"Don't worry, we don't need them, They're losers anyway," My friend Alex said, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and then putting me into a headlock. I tried to wiggle free but that only encouraged him to give me a noogie.
"Alex stop! You're ruining my hair!" I was giggling, so trying to sound annoyed wasn't working so well. I finally managed to escape his death grip, and gave him a playful scowl while combing through my hair with my fingers. I had everyone sit in a circle on the grass and we did eeny-meeny-miny-mo to see who would be it for hide and go seek tag. Rachel got out first so we nominated her to be it. we all ran away while she counted to forty in the tree house.
I waited until the last couple of seconds to run to my hiding spot, I didn't want any of the other kids to know where I was hiding. I ran to the small grove of aspens and laid down in the unmowed grass almost completely hidden. . I laughed softly when Rachel passed me several times without noticing me. I heard a twig snapped and looked behind me to see who the culprit was. It was Zac.
"Either leave or lay down! If you get me caught I am going to murder you!" I whisper yelled. He laughed at me but laid down next to me. I could hear Rachel on the other side of the house so I decided it was safe to talk.
" So Mr. Beasley you decided to grace us with your presence," I said jokingly. "We half expected you to not show up."
"I was going to come most definitely but it just took a little more convincing to get one of my friends to come," He said shrugging.
That reminded me, "Oh, yeah who did you bring?"
"You'll see," he laughed and that made me suspicous.
"Just tell me-." he cut me off with a shush pointing through a gap at an approaching Rachel.
"Ollie Ollie Oxenfree!" She shouted followed by a small group of kids. ZAc got up but I pulled him down.
"Wait until everyone passes. This is like the greatest hiding spot and I don't want everyone to know where it is." I said. When they were out of sight I got up and brushed my self off and stepped out into the open. Zac followed smirking, the whole way. He was acting really weird. I ruffled his dark orange hair and then walked off. I found the group talking by the swing set. Zac was following me.
