Ella's POV:
I felt a constant breeze drift along my legs, the steady beat of a taping noise. I opened my eyes to see that I was in my small room in my flat, my legs were out of the duvet. I shifted looking at my clock located on my bedside table. It read five o'two. I still had fifty eight minutes to sleep.
I looked up seeing the fan was on, creating the clicking noise. There was a small light seeping from the closed shades on the window. I tried to closed my eyes and sleep, but seeing that I was unable to, I got out of bed.
I went into the bathroom to freshen up for the day. I switched on the light, as it was winter and the sun had yet to come up.
I looked into the mirror seeing the scar on my temple just above my right brow. The flash backs began, once again as they normally did as soon as I saw it in my reflection. I just shook my head at the thought to rid me of the images of the fist coming down...
"No" I said softly aloud, today would be different. Today was my first day back at the university since the...Incidence. Everything seemed to remind me of it in a way.
I stripped and turned on the shower, making it as hot as possible. I stepped inside, the steam overwhelming my senses as I took in a deep breath, trying to obtain as much oxygen as my lungs would allow.
After washing my body and hair I stopped the water and dried myself. I stood in the doorway of the bathroom looking into my room.
I wondered what I should wear today. I decided to blend in, not wanting to attract attention to myself. I wandered towards my closet, towel still draped across my chest.
I chose comfortable jeans, slightly tight but not skinny, along with a cozy oversized sweatshirt. I brushed out my long wavy nearly black, hair and then slipped on some toms. Looking in the mirror, avoiding my face as it held unwanted memories, I saw my pale arms. Covered with scars.
I pulled my sweatshirt down from my forearms.
I walked into the kitchen grabbing my keys and phone, then headed out the door. I checked the time on my phone. It was already six twenty. I would be just waking up on a usual day.
Since I had time to kill I decided on going to the nearest cafe and eating breakfast.
I got into my old truck, I couldn't really afford anything else. And I could barley make it into this university with a scholarship.
As I drove towards the Coffee shoppe it started to drizzle. It was a red light. The windshield covered in tiny water droplets. Some streaming down, others staying in place. I got lost in the gray scene, causing me to jump slightly when the vehicle behind me honked.
I looked up and it had been green for quite some time now.
After driving in the now pouring rain, for another few minutes, I had arrived at the little corner shop. Since it was so early there were only a few cars parked.
I stopped my truck choosing the closest spot available. It was still a good five yards from we're the entrance was.
I sat still in the car for a moment, contemplating on how to stay dry, while listening to the rain dance on the roof. Finally realizing I didn't have all day, I turned of the ignition and opened the door.
I stood outside the car mentally scolding myself for not bringing an umbrella with me. I was instantly soaked as I ran to the door.
I walked in, the jingling from the bell signaling that someone had entered. I was dripping and shivering. But I felt eyes burning into my back I turned and saw a hooded man with very dark shades looking at me. I hated not knowing we're he was directly looking, his shades hiding it. I went to take my order and the went to the only booth open, the one directly in front of the hooded man.
I politely smiled as I sat and my teeth chatters slightly. The waitress brought my tea over I thanked her, and still felt the gaze of the man.
Still shivering, I felt something drape over my shoulders, and looked up to see the man, no longer hooded, stood over me. He looked expressionless and after giving me his coat, he walked away. Sitting in the booth behind me still staring. He was very handsome with chestnut curls that were wet somewhat, from the rain I'm guessing, they were pushed back.
He had striking green eyes. I kept dwelling on the fact that he gave me his coat. And figured I should thank him.
I stood up and casually say in front of him, feeling much warmer, I handed him his jacket. And mumbled while shyly smiling "Thank you".
"Anytime love" he replied in a raspy morning tone. And as he looked up from his coffee we made eye contact, and I felt something deep inside click and I knew from that moment, as we stared into each others eyes, that I needed him.
