The elite team pulled up to West Coast Dance Explosion in a white van.

"Here we areeee!" Squealed Abby.

Hope jumped out and stretched her back.

"Woah! This place is huge!" Hope gawked in awe.

"I know right?" Agreed Maddie.

They grabbed their duffel bags and suitcases, Hope grabbed her make up mirror, and they entered the building.

"Now remember, the competition starts right now," started Abby.

Here comes another speech.

"Right from the moment you walk in here you are representing me. Do you understand me? Let's go."

Hope followed Abby into the lobby.

"Mom? How much time do we have to get ready for our trio after our group?" Hope wondered.

"Well we have the group awards, and then the very next section is for your trio, so you need to be on your game H, got it?" Responded Abby.

"Got it! French twist with curls?"

"Always a French twist!"

As Abby went to check in, the moms were being very loud.

Hope didn't like it when the moms were loud, but it was often, so it got quite annoying.

"Ladies, inside voices!" Abby hissed when she noticed Hope was bothered.

Hope then noticed Christi mocking Abby and Chloe laughing.

Hope liked Chloe, but she didn't like her mother. She was always too loud and had too much to drink.

"Now listen to me, I don't want flip flops, I don't want booty shorts walking through here, you make sure you are covered, Hope put on your jacket."

"But mommmm, it's too hotttttt," Hope whined.

"Hey! Don't you start being all whiny and bratty because you're tired, you need to suck it up and get out there and perform, got it?" Abby said, sternly.

Hope pouted and nodded before putting on her jacket.

"I feel sorry for Hope, being with Abby 24/7. It must be tiring." Hope heard Chloe whisper to Paige.

That made Hope's heart drop a little bit. Sure Abby was tough, but deep down, Hope knew she loved her.
~
They walked into the dressing room and immediately, it was chaos, people were racing for the best spot, fighting over different spots, trying to get ready.

"This is where I'm going!" Squealed Kelly.

"That's where I'm going!" Told Christi.

"We were here first Christi!" Interjected Paige.

"Settle down hot pants!" Teased Christi.

That made Hope laugh.

"Hope! Come on, what are you doing? Hair and make-up. Go." Instructed Abby.

Hope nodded and proceeded on pulling her hair up into a French twist and curling the tops before starting to apply her make-up.

Once the makeup was done, Hope started to stretch.

"Hope, I need you to practice your aerial into your attitude turn, since we won't be able to practice before the trio, don't wobble." Told Abby.

All of a sudden there was a sizzle and Paige started to cry.

"What happened?" Wondered Hope.

"Paige burnt herself on the curling iron." Replied Kelly.

Chloe went and hugged Paige.

Hope tried to think of something that would cheer her up. Something funny.

"Hey Paige! If it makes you feel any better, I don't have any underwear on!"

Maddie stole the show and Hope laughed.

It seemed to make Paige happier and for that Hope was grateful. They couldn't have anyone being hurt before they went on stage!

"Hope! Practice!" Yelled Abby.

Hope rolled her eyes and started to go through her routines.
~
The team started walking down the hallway and Abby started with her 'pep-talk'.

"Is your hat in? Because if it's not in, tell the manager or someone back stage you need a bobby pin and they'll give you one. You can't have that hat falling in front of your eyes," began Abby.

"Can't it come out when you do a side aerial?" Questioned Paige.

"I know, but that's dangerous, what if you were at the Radio City Music Hall and the thing was out of the ice skating rink and you did a side aerial and fell 13 stories down and died, huh?"

Ooh. Hope couldn't help but shiver. Luckily, her mom made sure her head hurt with all the bobby pins and hairspray.

As they got to the head of the hallway, near the stage, Hope heard Abby saying something about paying attention and turning around, but Hope wasn't listening, the stage looked like it was great to turn on, the lights made everything look magical and there were so many people in the audience!

Hope rushed up the stage steps and took her position. Maddie soon came up beside her and gave her a half hug.

"Good luck H," she whispered.

"You too Mad," Hope whispered back.

Then the music started. Walk walk pose, hold, aerial.

Everyone always said Hope's face looked really good. That's because the smile and excitement was real. She loved dance and wouldn't give it up for anything. She smiled at Maddie out of the corner of her eye and was pretty sure she smiled back.

They threw confetti into the audience and turning and smiling, she jumped of the stage all sweaty and out of breath.
~
Awards came around and the team sat on the stage nervously. Hope squeezed Maddie's hand and preyed that they got a good score.

"In third place with a score of 274, 'Party Party Party'."

Hope's stomach dropped.

They came third.

But they were undefeated.

Hope didn't really know what it felt like to loose. She was winning competitions left right and centre last season.

Loosing didn't feel good.

Hope could tell Maddie felt the same.

Hope then preyed that they do well with the trio.

Otherwise, they go home losers.
