Chapter 2

'Where am I? What happened?' Thought Alice as she began to regain consciousness, her head pounding as she was trying to open her eyes. She could hear a faint beeping sound in the background of the silent room.

At first her sight was blurry, soon her eyes focused and she could make out the details of the plain room a small window to her left with the curtains partly drawn shut. A small table underneath the window. On her right was a big window looking into a hallway a door beside the window the beeping noise was a monitor that she was connected to wan an I.V drop on her arm.

As Alice tried to sit up a wave of unbearable pane shot through her body  mainly her arm and stomach, Immediately she dropped back on the bed . Moments later a little boy came running in two toy trucks in hand, It tool a moment for Alice to realize it was the little boy she saved earlier she smiled to herself remembering seeing he Aunt again. Just after that she came running in saying something about how the James shouldn't  be in the room.

Just then she realized that I was awake she came and stood beside the bed putting her hand on top of Alice's. Julie took a deep berth and let it out slowly 

"Alice..." She trailed off trying to break the news to Alice "your coming to live with me and my family if that's alright with you" Julie stated calmly.

Alice nodded in able to utter a word due to the dryness in her throat. Soon a nears came into the room and looked at Alice with a smile but a little of putty I'm her eyes. Alice hated to be pitted

"Hello sugar how are you?" Asked the lady  Alice just shrugged. "Here I bet you're thirsty" she said the lady  handing Alice a glass of water. She finished checking the numbers on the machines raised the bed so Alice was sitting up and left the room.

"So......are you okay?" Julie asked

"I will be as soon as I'm out of this hellhole" replied Alice 

Fore some reason Alice has always hated hospitals from the. Smell of death to the pity in people's eyes and even the uncomfortable beds. Alice's gaze drifted to the window  that saw into the now busy hall.

"Alice. Your dad is in jail" blurted Julie in a calm tone

Alice's head snapped back to Julie full attention on her as she continued a slight smile on Alice's face.

"Since you have no remaining family members you may come live with me and my family,if you would like"

Alice's smile only grew. Alice nodded her head quickly " I would love to" she answered in a joyful tone

"Just a fair warning I have all sons and no other girls beside my self" added Julie 

"As I said I would love to come live with you and your family, But only on one condition" her voice now very serious " my name is Al  you can't call me anything else" the smile returning to Alice's face

"Okay but why is that?" Julie asked puzzled

"I'm guessing you haven't told them about me and I have always thought boys are dumb so I wanted to see it would take them to find out I am a girl, and besides imagine their faces when they do" Alice said her smile growing

Julie chuckled at the thought if her family's faces "So I'm gonna go sign the paper work so I may be your new legal guardian and we are off" said Julie getting up from the chair. As she walked over to James who was playing silently in the corner of the room Alice interrupted

"janes can stay here while you go do that it will give us a chance to know each other"

James attention was mow fully on Alice Julie simply nodded and walked out of the room. Janes came over with one toy car in each hand, he came and stood at the edge of the bed and gave her one of the cars it was a green monster truck. Keeping the yellow mustang for himself , Alice patted the spot on the bed beside her he carefully jumped onto the bed and say beside her. He looked up at Alice his big green eyes full of wonder and curiosity

"You come live with us now?" He asked

"Ya replied Alice with a small smile "is that okay with you?"

"Yup I like you , your good" he said a toothy grin plastered on his face

Soon James was talking away while they where playing with the cars making them crash into one another and drive all over the place. As they discussed that kind of dinosaurs would win in a fight and what James is gonna do node they get home.

Hours later Julie came back to find them both asleep James huddled close to Alice a peace on thief sleeping faces. Julie leaned over and gently shook Alice she slowly opened her eyes letting out a yawn.

" what time is?" Asked Alice her voice groggy 

"Late and we have to catch the plane or we will miss it I've already sighted your discharge papers" replayed Julie handing her a pair of clothes hat consisted of a pair of baggy sweat pants and a oversized black hoodie with her long brown hair in a ponytail when she finished changing they all left the hospital and went to the airport.
