It was 3 weeks after we built our fort. Liam was taking me out for our 1 month anniversary since the day we met. We consider that the day we started going out. He told me to dress nicely so I put on a white, strapless, flowy dress with pale-pink heels and a grey button-up coat. I was fixing my hair and make up in my bathroom mirror when I heard the front door open.
"Hello love, I'm here!" I heard Liam yell from downstairs. My smile widened in my reflection and I ran down the stairs, going as fast as I could in my heels.
Liam's mouth dropped when he saw me come from off the stairs. He walked over to me and gave me a huge hug. "Gorgeous." He whispered in my ear.
I blushed and looked down. "You look very handsome." He was wearing nice style pants, a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and a grey vest.
He took me by the hand and walked me out the door. We walked down the dimly lit street to the front of the Starbucks we went to the day we met.
I smiled, looking into the building. "I know how you love Starbucks and I thought this place was pretty special." He said as he opened the door, guiding me inside.
"Two oreo-caramel lattes please." Liam asked the lady at the counter. She smiled and walked off with our order.
He smiled down at me, taking my hand. He kissed my forehead just as the lady walked back.
"Here you go." She said and handed them over to us. Liam paid and we walked out. We sat at a table outside of the building.
"You're not afraid of being seen?" I asked suspiciously.
"Why would I be afraid of being seen with you around? People can take as many pictures as they want as long as I get to be with you." He took another drink of his latte. When he was done I walked over to him, lifted his chin to look at me and kissed him softly. He grabbed me by the waist, pulling me down onto his lap.
We drank the rest of our lattes and began walking. "Where are we going now?" I asked, grabbing his hand in mine.
"We're going to Nando's." He smiled down at me and kissed my hand.
"Why did we have to dress up so fancily then?" I questioned. My heart was beating faster. He looked so adorable with the moonlight bouncing off his face. There was a small twinkle in his eyes and a little smile stretched across his lips.
"I thought it would be fun." He replied, opening the door to Nando's. We took a seat and waited for the waitress.
"May I take your order?" She asked with her pen and notepad in hand.
Liam quickly ordered for both of us, it seemed like he was in a hurry.
We talked and laughed and waited for the waitress to bring back our food. It didn't take long for both of us to finish and for her to take the dishes away. The waitress took Liam's credit card and we waited for her to bring it back.
Liam started to talk as she set it back on the table and walked away.
"I was going to wait to give you this until later but I didn't want to wait." Liam put his hand in his pocket, then pulled his hand back out with a silver chain hanging out of his fingers. A tiny coffee cup rested on the chain. It was one of the prettiest necklace I'd ever seen.
"Oh my god.. Liam.. It's perfect! Thank you!" I said smiling the widest I possibly could.
He walked around the table and put it around my neck, clasping it. I stood up and hugged him. As I pulled away I kissed him softly and sat back down. Liam walked back to his chair.
"I'm glad you like it. It took me forever to find just the right one. I wanted to make sure it would be something you would love, even if we were to... separate." Tears began to well up in my eyes and I noticed he looked the same way, "I just wanted you to always remember us, forever. And whenever you see it, you'll think of me, whether it's good thoughts or bad. At least I would be on your mind."
Tears began to slip down my cheeks. Liam managed to hold himself together. I could tell this meant a lot to him and I was so happy to have a man like him.
"I'm not sure of what will happen in the future, but I hope you'll still think of me. And remember this moment, and the day we met, and our special fort," A smile crept onto his lips, tears threatening to fall over the edge of his eyes. "And of everything we have done and will do."
I was purely speechless. I stood up and so did Liam. I hurried him out the door and onto the sidewalk. I hugged him as tightly as I could, not wanting to let go. The tears kept falling down my cheeks and Liam wiped them away as they dropped.
"You'll never have to worry about me needing things to remember you by in the future, because you'll be there. You are always on my mind, even when you're not around. I hope I never have to spend a day in my life knowing you won't be coming back to me." I brushed my fingers through his hair and looked into his eyes. He wiped more tears away and hugged me tighter. He kissed my forehead and grabbed my hand.
He walked us through the streets and to the park where we spent the whole day together, that was the second day we knew each other.
Liam boosted me up into a tree and he closely followed. I sat on a thick branch and he sat right next to me. We held hands and I put my head on his shoulder, his head on mine. He wrapped his arms around me and I wrapped mine around him. We enjoyed the silence, not needing words to fill the empty space. We knew what we were both thinking.
We stared at the swans in the pond; moonlight glistened on the water's surface. The whole scene was prefect.
After a while of looking at the park, Liam walked me back to my apartment. It was already midnight and he looked so tired so I refused to let him walk home alone, also because I wanted to spend more time with him before he would have to go. Every second with him was beautiful.
We changed into more comfortable clothes. Liam kept some of his clothes here since he started staying here a lot and some other things he needed or left here.
He was laying on the couch, looking up at the ceiling, his arms stretched behind his head. I walked up next to him and kissed his cheek, still wearing the necklace. I laid down on top of him and he wrapped his arms around me. I put my arms around his neck and we just fell asleep, no words needed to be said after everything we told each other today.
I was truly, madly, deeply in love.
