Mystery Person's POV
I really hate what I do. And if I had a choice I would pack up my bags and get the hell out of here. But I don't have a choice. And this poor girl is terrified. She's being watched constantly. She's being hunted down by predators because of something she can't control. They make me call her. They use recordings of my voice which they altered to sound deeper and more scratchy.
I really hate what I do. But I don't have a choice.
Beck's POV
I nervously tap my foot as I stare at the ground in my blue graduation gown. I graduate Valedictorian of course. It's almost my turn to give a speech. I look at Christina and she stares back at me. She's been acting off lately. I don't know what's going on but I know something's not right. She blows me a kiss. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe everything is fine and I'm worrying to much. Finally it's my turn to give my speech. I walk up to the podium and my mom looks at me with glossy eyes. I smile proudly and begin to speak.
"High school can be some of the best years of our lives, or the worse. You can join activities or join gangs. You can do sports or do drugs. You can focus on doing your work or you can focus on what drama is going on. These choices, these decisions are what paves the road for our future. We can either make poor decisions and end up with a dirt path leading into a dark woods, or we can make good decisions and end up with a concrete road that leads us to success. I hope that all of you paved a good path for yourself. And if you didn't just remember this, it's never to late to do what's right."
I finish and everyone applauses. It's time for them to give out the diplomas. They start with the first person.
"Sarah Albia."
"Sue Albia."
"Brandon Attoson"
"Karla Benney."
.......
"Christina Metison"
I watch Christina walk up with a wide smile on her face as the principal hands her the diploma she earns. She waves to me and then to her mom and grandma and walks to back to her seat.
........
"Beck Till"
I walk up. I've been thinking of this moment for a long time. Of course, when I was thinking of it when I was a kid I was 6'6 and had blonde hair.
The principal shakes my hand and hands me my diploma. I smile and walk to my seat.
A simple handshake and the exchange of a piece of paper can mean the world to some people.
After the ceremony, my family and Christina's family go out to dinner. My mom, grandpa, uncle, and aunt all came today. Her mom and grandma are here.
I sit by Christina at the restaurant and she grabs my hand and holds it under the table. I smile and when no one is looking at us I kiss her cheek. She smiles and I realize that this moment is absolutely perfect.
