Chapter 1

“Wake up, dumbass! Your turn to do the laundry”, Turner, my best friend since first grade, said.

“Wha—no uh! My turn was yesterday!” I said lazily, as I was getting up. I stretched and looked at my clock. “HOLY SHIZMS MOVE, MOVE, MOVE! I GOTTA GET REA—“I screeched as the time was 7:20.

“SHADDUP! WHATS UP WTH ALL THAT NOISE, IDIOT” My other best friend, Keisha, interrupted as she welcomed herself in. Her mate was Turner, so meh, I didn’t bother.

“Heh sorry! Just in a bit of panic cus schools gonna start in like forty min-“I said, trying to dry my hair from the 5 minute shower I took.

“Dontcha remember? Its late start today. You got time. Chill~~” she said calmly. I really don’t get how she got into my room. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was locked. Ju~~st in case.

“Seriously? Ugh…. I got up for nothing you sonuvadish! Why didn’t you tell me~~” I wailed playfully as I lightly pounded at Turners chest. “I could’ve slept like 30 minutes more~~ Whyy~~”

“aye dere, no need to harm my mate, he was just gonna warn you that the Red Pack was gonna come here tomorrow and that you should clean up. In fact, he was cleaning for you. Be thankful, you baka.” Baka was her nickname for me since I acted like one for most of the time. Turner called me Ty.Yeah, my name is actually Tyler, Tyler Reinolds. Only people I trusted could call me Ty. I heard a muffled thud from across the hall and cringed. The other pack members were getting up. And yes, I mean in the bad way. Most members in this pack had mates, asides from the younger ones. I on the other hand, was mateless. Only at the moment though.

“Aye homo, get le food ready please, wouldn’t want my mate to starve over here” One member said as he strolled downstairs. And I wonder why his mate would “starve” Oh yeah! Cause they go at it like freaking bunnies. And they asked me why I wasn’t attracted to women… eugh. Even the thought makes me queasy.

“And why do I have to listen to someone like you? I mean seriously. You can get up yourself, no? It’s not like you have paralyzed legs. Am I wrong?” is what I wanted to say. But of course, the coward in me had to make me silently start making food.

Seriously? You didn’t have to be such a coward and take that, my wolf said.

But I-I just can’t. I don’t want to be hurt. I’ve had enough.

Then show them that you aren’t one to be messed with.

WHAT?! That’s impossible. I-I can’t. Nope, impossible. If I did, I would be six feet under even before they did anything. Nuh uh . I’d rather keep the only life that I have.

Sheesh, no need to panick, boy, it can wait. I’ll be there soon enough.

After that, Dylan had ceased to be in my mind. I was guessing that he had something to do and brushed it off. But in the end, I still wondered what he meant by “ill be there soon enough”. I didn’t mind it much and put it in the back of my mind. I snapped out of it when I heard a scream and realized that the kitchen was slowly catching on fire. And I was in the middle of it. Like whaaat just happened? Why am I alive? Why does it feel so comforting instead of painful??? I started screaming (the anyway) and I started running around, trying to find something to put the fire out. People started panicking and I remembered the sprinklers. As if the sprinklers could read my mind, they went off. The only sprinkler activators were in the room next to the kitchen. Seriously, who was the smart person that didn’t put a fire alarm nor a sprinkler in the most fire prone area?!?!? They didn’t deserve their license.
