Joseph came home from school bloodied as usual.

His mother, Beatrice sighed.

"not again" she murmured to herself.

Beatrice monotonously took out the medical kit from it's permanent place right next to the front door and busied herself dressing Joseph's wounds.

"It doesn't even hurt ma,you dont need to" he whined

"The stitches aren't for you darling,it's for everyone else"replied Beatrice curtly.

Joseph didn't understand what she meant until a much much later time.....a time when he was a different man.

Suddenly the door burst open and standing at the door was someone Joseph hadn't set eyes on in a very long time, his father,Jack Napier. He stood where he was for a minute examining his house with a grin on his face.

He sauntered toward Beatrice and held her by the throat, she cried out in pain.

"why don't you try running away this time" he rasped, his voice was different now it was a voice that was in pain....his breath smelled strongly of alcohol.

Beatrice broke free from his grip and ran into the kitchen and grabbed a pork knife.

"Don't make me do this jack" she begged.

"Oh you aren't going to do anything" he replied.

In a fraction of a second Jack smashed a beer bottle on her head and she collapsed...blood dripping from her head to her face.He grabbed the knife from the fallen woman's hand and stabbed her, right in the middle of her heart twisting the knife as he did so.

Joseph yelled out in despair and caught his father's attention.

"what are you so sad about....let's turn that frown upside down" he muttered in an angry tone.

Joseph started sobbing uncontrollably

"hush....let's put a smile on that face" Jack said in a soft whisper.

He advanced toward Joseph, knife in hand and placed a hand over his mouth.

He stuck the knife between his son's lips and held it there.

"lets put a smile on that face" Jack repeated and pulled the knife toward Joseph's ear and did the same for the other side of his face giving him a Glasgow smile.

Muffled screams echoed through the air but there would be no one to help him....no one to give him his justice.

This time Joseph felt the pain both emotional and physical,he also felt the anger. He caught his father off guard grabbed the knife from him and stabbed it right through his head.

Disfigured, Joseph Kerr fled from the scene leaving both his parents dead in his home.
