Harry sat across the street from Laura's house, eyes fixated on the faded white window frame. His lips were sewn tightly together as he prayed for the flash of her second floor bathroom light, or any sign that he would see her tonight. He felt uneasy and insecure not knowing where they stood after their abrupt kiss two evenings ago. Nothing had ever felt so right to him, nothing had ever made him feel this whole.

He wondered what had gone on between her and Jared yesterday morning, only because he worried for her. He didn't trust Jared, or anyone really, he had come across more than his fair share of fake people in the past five years of stardom. That's why Harry chose to wear a hat and shades the day they met and that's also why he was hesitant to remove them. But, Laura hadn't emitted the same sneaky aura as the majority of women he had crossed paths with. Harry knew from the moment he saw her, she was different.

There it was, the glowing yellow bulb blinking into the night outside of the window. Harry's heart began to pound as he started his car and pulled up to her driveway. He put it in park and stared at the door, hands becoming clammy against the woodgrain steering wheel. He exhaled as he recalled the last time he saw her, her tasseled blonde hair flopped over her rumpled white t-shirt, lying beneath the sun in his study. He wanted that image to be etched in his memory forever.

The door opened and Laura dashed down the pathway, Harry didn't even have time to get out and open the door like he had planned. She hopped in and threw her arms around him in a tight embrace.

"I wasn't sure you were going to come tonight," Laura said, as she peeled herself off of him and rested in her seat.

"Why would you think that?" Harry asked, eyes watching her as she buckled her seatbelt. She turned to face him and extended her hand to his shoulder.

"You didn't come last night," she said.

Harry crinkled his brow confused. He sat outside her window for an hour last night and she never came out. "Yes I did, erm, I was here at 9. I didn't want to come to early and be seen by Jared."

"Oh, I checked for you around 8. No worries, let's go," she said, eagerly looking out the window.

"I didn't really plan anythi...

"I did and it's a surprise, so just follow my directions," she demanded.

Harry stared at her with a smirk on his face. He loved spontaneity.

"Okay, I like the sounds of that," he replied.

Harry followed her directions around each corner and bend, though he did miss his turn a few times; he was distracted. His eyes analyzed every street sign and building, looking for some kind of clue. Finally, he found one.

"Slow down here," her soothing voice sang.

"Wait a minute, erm, isn't that Berkeley up there?"

"Yes, it is," she said with a cheeky smirk while she undid her seatbelt. "Pull into the public parking over there."

Harry followed her orders and parked. He watched as she swung the door open and pulled keys out from within her purse. He climbed out quickly and began following her through the lot.

"Did you forget something at work?"

Laura replied by shaking her head and grabbing a hold of Harry's arm. She pulled him along as she hustled into the building. Harry went to ask where they were going, but she placed a finger over his soft red lips; he was even more intrigued.

From the main hallway they made their way up a staircase. She directed him to stay close to the wall and she peeked around every corner before walking out. She stopped in front of a heavy metal door and inserted her key into the lock.
