Age:19
Three days later...
I woke up knowing that it was going to be a long day. I sat up and swung my legs over the edge of the plush mattress and stumbled over to my closet. I chose a light blue button up shirt and black slacks. I threw them on and went into my bathroom to comb my hair and wash my face.
The next moment, there was a knock on he door and I yelled for the person to come in. In came my three maids, Suzy, Jane, and Taire, and Silvia, the Royal Advisor.
My maids entered with a deep curtsy, and Silvia nodded her regards. Suzy and Taire were immediately at my side and Jane went to make my bed. Taire grabbed the comb from out of my hands and then went on the comb it quickly, brushing it to the left side and smoothing it down with a light gel. Suzy grabbed the cloth by the sink and ran it under warm water. Moments later, I found the cloth on my face.
I sat down to make things easier for my maids, and Jane finished up with the bed. Silvia held out a deep blue tie, and I took it. Was I supposed to wear this today? "Put it on," Silvia said while jotting things down in her planner. I guess I was supposed to wear it.
I waited until my maids were finished with me and then flipped up my shirt collar and wrapped the sleek tie around my neck. I flipped my collar down and began to tie the new accessory, but was interrupted when Jane came to take over with the job. I let her proceed.
I sat there while my maids whirled around the room and prepped me for the day. When all was finished and I dismissed the maids and Silvia, I walked out into the hall. There were people everywhere. Florists displaying giant rose bouquets around the hall, maids washing the windows and bustling in and out of doors.
I made my way out of all the chaos and walked down the crowded stairs. The third level wasn't so calm, either. I continued to walk down the flight of stairs until I reached the second floor. It was a bit calmer here, besides all the rushing maids darting in and out of rooms with cleaning supplies and other things; they were preparing the rooms for the Selected.
I walked through the halls, trying to get a a sense of what rooms were being used for the Selected girls, and which rooms remained empty.
I turned around and started to head back down the stairs. I was starving, and, lucky for me, I could smell the sweet aroma of strawberries and cake, probably for later on this evening, as I also smelled eggs and bacon.
I made my way into the Great Hall and saw the the three long tables with the girls' names on a different plate. I made my way over to my parents, who had, I suspected, been eating before I even woke up. Their plates were partially full of food, but I could tell there had been a lot more before I arrived.
"Mother, Father," I said giving each of them a nod. I kissed my mother's cheek and sat down. My breakfast was suddenly placed in front of me and the hot food steamed up onto my skin. I quickly ate all of my food, then excused myself from the room.
I made my way into the Women's Room to see what was going on there. The couches and tables had been all crammed into the eastern corner and mirrors, stools and sleek tall tables were being set up. I scanned the room, then decided to leave, overwhelmed by all the light from the mirrors.

I straitened my suit coat and fixed my hair before entering the busy room. The Report was going to be big tonight. I glanced around and saw more cameras and lights than usual.
I heard someone laugh, and turned to face it. There, standing in the corner with his head tilted back in laughter, people adjusting his tie, was Gavril Fadaye. On his perfectly pressed suit I made out a name tag that said Gavril Fadaye: Annual Selection: Host

FanfictionThis is how I imagine Maxon's take on the Selection. This is NOT based on The Prince. Most chapters are very different, and I have made my own changes to Keira's story. I do not own any of the characters.
