I apologise, in advance, for the amount of swearing in this chapter. There's not an awful lot, but more than there usually is :P Just covering my back!
*Danny's POV*
It had been a week since Meghan's accident, and she still hadn't woken up... I was virtually living at that hospital... It'd been a week since I ran my fingers over keyboard keys, or strummed a guitar, or even sung a note... I just didn't want to know. All I cared about was the fact that my fiancee was connected up to a heart monitor, and the heart-breaking dread of the possiblity of hearing that long beep of the machine, and seeing a flat line.
Every day, Mark and Glen and visited, maybe more for me than Meghan.
*Mark's POV*
Me and Glen were seriously worried about Dan... I'd known him for nearly 20 years, and I'd never once seen him like this... We were worried about Megs, of course we were, but Dan... It was like he wasn't even there any more... It was killing him.
*Danny's POV*
Even though it was about 5 pm, I was drifting in and out of sleep, like I had all week, when something woke me up... A hand closing around mine, "Meghan!" she tried taking her oxygen mask off, but I didn't let her, "No, keep it on."
She, as usual, ignored me, "Dan, I don't need it. I'm fine... In quite a bit of pain, but I'm fine. What happened?"
"You don't remember?" I asked, slightly worried.
"Sort of... I remember you telling me to move, but that's it... Lights out."
*Meghan's POV*
Dan had been crying... His eyes were red, and he still had tears clinging to his eyelashes... I hated it when he cried, because it made me want to cry.
He took a deep breath, "You were hit by a car, and thrown into a brick wall... You've got a fractured skull, and a broken leg." I saw a tear fall, "You've been unconscious for a week..."
A WEEK?! "Jesus Christ..."
"I--I thought I was gonna lose you, Meg..." more tears flowed down his cheeks.
I kissed him, gently, "Don't talk crap, Dan. It's gonna take more than a car and a brick wall."
Then, who should walk in, but Mark and Glen, "Megs!" They came over and gave me a hug, "How are you feeling?" Glen asked.
"Like my head's hit a brick wall." I replied, "Other than that, and a broken leg, I'm grand!" I tried to laugh, a bit, but my throat was unbelievably dry, "Any chance of a cup of tea?"
That made the three of them laugh, even Dan, "Oh, I think she'll be fine..."
"Come on, Dan. We'll go and get the drinks. I think we could all use one." Mark decided, but Danny was reluctant, making Mark nearly drag him, "Dan, move your arse. You need to get out of this room!"
Dan gave in, "Fine... You sure you're alright, Meg?"
"Bloody hell, Danny, go! It's only down the freakin' corridor!" he got up to leave, but I grabbed his wrist, "Oi, before you go," I quickly kissed him, "Thank you."
He smiled at me, then left with Mark.
I looked at Glen, who was sat on the end of my bed, "Glen, how's he been? Honestly."
"Honestly?" I nodded, and he took a deep breath, "I've never seen him like that, Meghan... It was like he wasn't even there... He's practically lived here. He hasn't picked up a guitar, hit a piano key, even sung a note. Seeing you like that, it was killing him..."
