Eliot's P.O.V:
I walked back to the apartment after a long day of running errands for Jim. They were mainly mundane tasks, like 'get some milk' but at least it means he trusts me...Well I think it does anyway.
As I walked up the stairs to the apartment, I frowned as I noticed the door was open a little. I'd closed it after I left. I'd made sure of that so nothing would wake up James. Maybe he had gone out and left it open?...That was unlikely, James would never leave the door open. He was too neat and precise for that.
"James?" I called quietly, peering in. "Are you here?"
Nobody answered so I assumed I was alone. I took off my shoes, padding into the kitchen and putting things away. James liked it when the house was tidy so I took it upon myself to make sure the house was always spick and span for him.
It was weird. James never seemed to look after himself, like he didn't even care whether he lived or died. I'd cooked for him and tidied everyday just to keep him a little happy and it seemed to work but it was hard to tell with him. I had to admit, I did kind of like him. He was nice to me anyway. Whether it was because I was Sebastian's brother or because he genuinely liked me, I couldn't tell, but I hoped it was the latter.
I finished tidying up and flopped down onto the couch. I started dozing off until I was woken by the faint sound of something scratching against what sounded like a window. Slowly waking back up, I strained my ears, frowning. There were no trees close enough to the apartment. I tried to ignore it, but it started to get on my nerves.
"What the heck is that?" I hissed as I got up and frantically looked around, peering through all the windows.
Maybe I'm imagining things. Maybe I'm going crazy... I sat down for a moment, straining my ears and heard it again, followed by another small noise. Ha! I knew it was real!...Wait...Was that a meow? (<--CATS DON'T GET NYA THEY GO MEOW!!)
I got up again and followed the noise to the door and warily opened it. There was nothing there...I started to close it again when something pawed at me and I yelped, jumping back.
"What the-?"
A tiny black cat looked up at me, meowing and purring slightly.
"Oh!...Do you belong to James?" No response. Not that I expected any...Great, I was talking to a cat now. Maybe I was crazy. The tiny fluffball meowed and rubbed it's face against mine and I cuddled it. At least it was cute. I looked at it's red collar, which had the word "Belladonna" printed on the gold tag. That's a weird name for a cat...Is that a girl name or a boy name?...Oh well.
Belladonna meowed and I carried it over to the kitchen, getting out two small bowls, one for water and one for some tuna I had found in one of the cupboards. The cat instantly started eating and I smiled widely. Even if it wasn't James or Seb's cat, I'm sure they wouldn't mind...Besides it was freaking adorable.
After I'd quickly tidied up the kitchen again, the mysterious cat now sleeping on the floor, I walked up the spiral staircase to Sebastian's room. It had temporarily become my room and I was learning new things about my big brother. Including the fact that he had a rather large collection of weapons hidden in his closet. What had my brother gotten himself into?...Not like I could talk much though.
I suddenly stopped as I realized Seb's bedroom door was open too. Hmm maybe James was here after all? I can hear someone sleeping...
Warily, I opened the door half way to peek in and held back a gasp.
