Summary: How hard is it to die?
Notes: Took awhile to figure out what I wanted from this chapter, and where it was going - but here it is.
(More Notes At The End of The Chapter)
It was a week later and we were still working on the church, although now it had improved massively, half of the building was still incredibly unstable and we had yet to attempt to fix that part.
The guild continued to treat me the same although they now knew my secret and although being part of a family - at first felt like a bad idea, after a few days I was wondering how I had managed to survive so long without trust for anyone apart from my select few.
"You look deep in thought, whats going on in that ancient mind of yours then?" Daichi's blue eyes popped up in front of mine and blinking hard I realised I was expected to reply.
"We really need to do something about that," I pointed at the rotting ceiling and splintering floorboards. The result of an inexperienced group of builders trying to redo the church and giving up half way due to how much work it involved.
"Maybe we should add that to todays agenda." I nodded and then listened to him telepathically address the 'to do' list with the guild members.

Soon we had stripped the floorboards and poured a concrete like mixture to provide a solid, even base for the mosaic. It was expected to take a few hours for it to dry and since the sun had begun to set we all walked back to the guild for a party.
"Why aren't you drinking tonight?" Cana sat in front of me, her brows furrowed in worry, hands gripping a mug of beer in each.
I smiled trying to reassure her before I stood and left the shouts of excitement, walking back to the church because something seemed very wrong.
My doubts were reaffirmed when I was greeted by dead grass, and two close friends having yet another argument.
I sat down with my back against a wall and listened,
"I finally found it Mave, but I need her to make it work."
"How could you? A sacrifice just for you to die? Have there not been many of those?"
"She's different, she's like us."
I stood up and both heads whipped around to face me, "This is not what you think, Fuyu."
"Another death plan? It seems it is what I think," I turned to Zeref, a smile spread across my lips, "So what's the plan this time genius."
"This time? You two have tried to die before?" Mavis' eyes began to water, before she shook her head and stood up hands clenched into fists.
We linked arms, both beaming before Zeref started walking towards the forest.
It was dark and we fumbled our way through the forest, but Zeref continued as if the path had been engraved into his mind, like we were walking in plain sunlight.
Soon we came to a clearing, the moonlight illuminated a small island surrounded by a stream that twinkled like stars. A circle had been created by small mushrooms of different colours and shapes, I heard massive gasp from behind me.
"That-that is a fairy ring."
I nodded then turning to Zeref I asked what the plan was, which he quickly explained.

I was standing on the outskirts of the stream, having requipe into a more suitable attire for summoning, (A/N picture in the media section) as I was about to place a foot into the circle a hand landed on mine, "Fuyu, never ever step inside a fairy ring. It's a saying that's been passed won for years, centuries even."
I placed my foot down and felt a surge of ancient magic filter into me, "Have I ever followed to the rules?"
Then I heard it, an ancient hum of music and I lost control of my body, allowing my hands and feet dance to the music and when it finally reached the crescendo, (A/N loudest part) I started to chant.
"Here in the forest, dark and deep. I ask for eternal sleep."
I watched the light begin to form shapes, figures of small fairies holding hands on the border of the mushrooms circling around.
"You have come to this forest, dark and deep. But we cannot offer you eternal sleep. You may have come to die. But we cannot say goodbye."
The hum stopped, the fairies disappeared and I regained control of my body.
"Did you hear that?"
"Yes, well i guess we file this attempt under another failed attempt for peace."
I was guided out of the circle and instantly fell down, my veins began to pulse electric blue, my hands began to tense and I could hear the two magicians step away from me.
Then I felt a hand land on my shoulder and felt my magic being absorbed, "That's as much as I can do without endangering myself as well, Fuyu. I'm sorry."
I glanced at Zeref before getting too my feet and sprinting in the direction I hoped the church was, feeting catching on the odd branch or weed but I continued even when I fell flat on my face.
When I finally emerged from the forest, I paused for a second, panting before I jogged to the church, I sat on the newly dried concrete and looked up at the rotting roof.
How hard is it to die?
Suddenly I heard a cracking sound, it echoed in the peaceful night and I instinctively raised my hands to protect myself but there was no magic left to stop the collapsing roof that was headed straight for me, this was it.
I heard footsteps and then a body had landed heavily on top of mine, just as the roof collapsed straight onto us.
