Peace. Thats what I finally feel for once. After sending out that video I feel peace. Even though I know it won't last for long. The Alliance won't be after just River now. They will be after the whole team. But I'm ok with that. I finally have a team bigger than me and River. I can trust more people now. Then theres Kaylee. Sweet, beautiful, funny Kaylee. I finally figured out how to say I cared for her, and now we're together. Both of us still aren't really sure what we are doing, but we're figuring it out together.
Kaylee and I are laying on the couch watching some random movie. I look down and admire Kaylee. The way she looks in all her gear with oil on her face, it looks adorable on her. I've really enjoyed this time. Its nice to have someone who cares for me other than River.
Speaking of River, she's been getting better. Ever since Miranda she has become less erratic. She is getting closer to a point of "normal". She's also taking a liking to Mal, and is constantly following him around. Thankfully Mal hasn't gotten annoyed with her or we would have a problem.
I hear the Cap'n over the intercoms, calling Kaylee to the engine room. I watch her reaction. She just stays there for a second, turns over, looks up at me, and kisses me. That was a nice suprise. But I see this look in her eyes, she's tired. She's been in the engine room constantly the past week or so. I'm worried she has taken on to much. Maybe I'll ask Mal if we can take some time off, and maybe he'll even watch River for a while. That'd be nice.
I head off to the the control room, but I stop short when I see Inara heading in. The whole crew knows to stay away when those two are talking, in hope that they'll finally get together.
